Among all public university graduate, the average debt at graduation is $16,300 for an undergraduate degree.

$10,000 will pay off more than half of the debt for the majority of borrowers.

Making all community colleges free is a step to decrease debt in the future.

What no one is talking about is the fact Biden himself can do this as easily as he’s signed 38373 EOs into power. Yes, he can do it all by himself. Wtf is his problem??

Not surprised with this decision, (it should be all debt lbf) but he’s specifically one of the lawmakers who made it uniquely import declare bankruptcy on student loans. 

This is like a shitty apology letter from a celeb who cant even admit what they did wrong.

And I never said the number. I'm aware as this was something other Democrats were pushing for, but there were constant talks of forgiving up to 10k by his administration as well as him "recommending it" himself:

So to restate my point, I'm glad I didn't hold my breath waiting for loan forgiveness--I've been taking advantage of the 0% interest and paid towards principal throughout the pandemic (which I realize is a privilege and I've been employed throughout this time and have the income to do this).

People don’t realize we are going into unprecedented times in the next few years economically. That will require big moves to try and help. A large percentage of the current workforce have large amounts of debt just from getting the “necessary” degree to get an entry level job in their field and then work up. This system has been working like this for years. But now the economy is down the drain and huge businesses will topple if something isn’t changed quickly. It’s not just about “stimulating the economy” but trying to get people to move to other places for work, get home loans, get car loans etc etc. That won’t be possible if majority of your expert workforce is strapped and stuck with student loans. The housing market could crash again and I highly doubt Biden would want that, because that will make America’s situation with the pandemic so much worse and will give the GOP all the ammunition they need to defeat Dems in 2022.

He is still planning on forgiving $10k like promised. He said he doesn't have the authority to do $50k without action coming from congress.
