North Korea accused of hacking Pfizer for Covid-19 vaccine data

North Korea attempted to steal Covid-19 vaccine technology from US pharmaceutical company Pfizer, according to South Korean intelligence officials.

It is currently unclear as to what, if any, data was stolen.

North Korea has yet to report a single case of coronavirus. However, the country is due to receive two million doses of the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine in the coming weeks.

NK closed its borders in January last year soon after the virus began to emerge in China.

It's so crazy that there's an entire nation that's just dark and closed off to the rest of the world.

I wonder why they'd try to steal the data when they're getting vaccines regardless  I guess to make their own?

I'm certain there are COVID cases in NK; they just don't want that information publicized because it could be a lot worse than imagined.

Apparently there was a case in March and they killed the patient. That is just speculation, though.

Now that you've mentioned it...Is NK purchasing the vaccines from other countries such as the rest of the world? They have no bonds with other nations, I can imagine they could be simply not getting vaccines from outside.

It's so weird to have NK apart from all the other nations. I'm not educated enough to know why but I wish whatever keeps the country so closed could meet its demise

They will receive it from COVAX, which secures vaccines for poor countries (There are also some rich countries like Canada, Monaco, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore who also will get vaccines from COVAX ).
