In my understanding, the video explains the vaccine concept seems to incite  the right response in the targeted naive B cells. The eventual vaccine treatment would probably compromise out of a set of vaccines influencing said B cells.

I wonder, how come there is no vaccine against HIV? After so so so many years? And they can get a COVID vaccine in less than a year?

You can’t compare COVID to HIV. Two extremely different viruses.

This is amazing,  it seems that it would be an mRNA vaccine so covid vaccine may of paved the way for this which would definitely be a silver lining of the pandemic. It's a shame that HIV vaccine never got the funding that covid did. 

Even though living with HIV today is simple and easy for someone in developed countries like myself.

I would never wish the stigma and ignorance I've had to deal with because of being poz on someone else.

HIV is so complex and clever, coronavirus is extremely simple in comparison.

They just asked the question, I think we’re all aware that they are different viruses

I was actually wondering why there wasn’t a vaccine tho just the other day. What gives? What actually makes HIV so tricky?

mRNA sounds truly revolutionary, and it was only approved in 2018. Ugh what an exciting time to be alive

Autoimmune disease-causing viruses like HIV are tricky because they basically take your immune system hostage, and if you strengthen your immune system, you'll strengthen the disease as well (as your immune system attacks your own body, hence "autoimmune"). If you lower your immune system (like we do with chemo for cancer), then your body will be at risk for other diseases. This is why non-deadly diseases like a common cold can kill you if you have AIDS, because your immune system is working against you no matter what you try to do. 

So I guess the development of a vaccine or a cure doesn't rely directly on the immune system to repair itself (like normal vaccines), and more on an external aid to eliminate/deactivate the virus' effect on it.
