I've thinking about this A LOT lately. Remember when Gaga lowered the key of Just Dance by a semitone in late 2008/most of 2009? I actually really like the way the song sounds in that key! Whereas the original key is very happy-go-lucky, the lowered key has a totally different vibe to it -- more like "dancing while crying" than "dancing while high" like the original. I strongly disliked her vocal delivery during the 2009 performances, but the key sounds fabulous.

The reason why I've been thinking of this is because I feel when she sings it in the original key, it lacks personality, or rather, the "pizzaz" that the studio version and the early live performances have. I feel like the lowered key would not only breathe new life into the song again when performing it live, but I also think it would suit her sultrier, more mature voice that she has now. Take a listen! What do you think? Should Gaga lower the key of "Just Dance" again?

I also think she should add Colby's verses back into the live performances again, so she could give herself a breather, and maybe interact with the audience some more (like a scream contest). Plus I really like the "Oh YEAH!!!!"s that Colby does in the chorus after his verse. They give me chills!

I do like the lower version however we've only heard it with her 2009 voice where she struggled to sing many of the track from TF and had to lower majority of the keys so it could sound completely off with her better 2021 voice.

Honestly I just always assumed back when it was released but there was also a version leaked of the song before they brought in Colby to feature, Akon sings his verse because he wrote it and they kept quite a lot of Akon's backing vocals and adlibs throughout in the final version

Edit:

Here’s her performing it in 2008 in a more natural voice compared to her 2009 ones where she sounds like she’s sick.

Woah. I didn’t know this leaked. Yeah, Colby sounds WAY better than he does and they made the right choice by switching them out.

I’m honestly surprised at how many people voted to keep the original key in live performances. I really thought most would vote for the lower key due to her more mature voice nowadays.
