I wish there was an “angry” reaction on this website. Did we just see SEVEN DEMOCRATS vote to acquit Trump?!?!

no. you have to have a two thirds majority to convict, so even though there was a majority voting against trump, he was acquited because they didn't have that two thirds.

Harris Walz 2024

McConnell going after Trump now. They have no idea what they stand for. They don't want the consequences of coddling him for 5 years. They own him and he owns them.

What a horrible Lunar New Year present omg :toofunny:

So does this mean he is only impeached once and can't run again in 2024?

No, impeachment and conviction are different things. He’s officially not convicted as guilty. He can now run in 2024, unbothered.

and don’t dare think he has no chance 🤧

President Biden

Ok the bright side, it does show the Senate is progressing. Just a year ago, that vote # was lopsided in Trump’s favor. Now we have 50 Democrats + 7 Republicans voting for it. A good sign for the future of the Senate

Ugh :madge: F**k the whole Two party with us or against us system.

Buckle up for 2024 when he riles his base up again and history may well repeat itself.

So my hopes of him being impeached have been up for nothing. So that impeachment was basically pointless?! BYE :toofunny:

The Senate voted to acquit Trump 57-43, with seven Republicans (Senators Sasse, Romney, Burr, Collins, Murkowski, Toomey and Cassidy) joining Democrats on the charge of incitement.

Shocking result! Who would've seen this coming? Wow-ee

I knew Romney and Murkowski would vote to convict but I'm honestly shocked at the other 5. Good on them for putting the country first.

Still, Fulton County Georgia has plans for him. As does New York state. Plus Biden has access to all Trump's calls with Putin and intelligence over the last 4 years. It's only a matter of time before AG Merrick Garland gets him.

He's still f*cked, with or without 43 Republican spines :huntyga:

Yeah. Impeachment is like an indictment by the house of representatives, the senate acts as a judge and jury.

He's twice impeached and twice acquitted despite being guilty both times :smh:

Some thoughts… we knew this would happen.  Criminality wins. I left messages for my senators this week but, you know, Indiana and GOP fascism.  Most of us would get fired from our jobs or banned from our licensure if we behaved the way the former “president” and his colleagues did for four years.

Here’s to hoping the Biden/Harris Administration and Democratic-controlled Congress will move forward progressively, quickly, and without hesitation.  Democrats must do better if we want to keep hold of things in 2022/2024.  But I am most thankful to Bernie and The Squad for their continual hard work.  Re-sharing this link as it is a reminder that, since 45 wasn’t convicted and could run again, the next 45 could be competent and worse.  If Trumpism continues in the GOP, and they win again, I can only hope my degrees (and eventual license) are portable…

Thanks for letting us vent, OP!
