The 1,400 dollar checks are what he promised. Also, don’t forget the aid package also includes an expanded child tax credit, aid to state and local governments, an expansion of unemployment insurance with $400-per-week federal payments, student loan deferment, rent and mortgage assistance, and funding for schools so they can reopen. Maybe I'm wrong about the $15 minimum wage but I thought I had seen it got removed or he gave up on pushing that in the bill or something. Dems, including Biden, ran in GA and WON, in large part for promising $2,000. $1,400 =/= $2,000 and no where did they say the $600 from December was part of that, so no, it's not what he promised. $2,000 is 2,000, end of story. Not to mention the fact the checks are gonna be means tested even more most likely which is ridiculous. As if even a one-time payment of $2,000 would be enough for most struggling people anyway, but alas, the bill is good in other aspects per the other things you mentioned. Bottom like is Biden and the Dems shouldn't be afraid to be popular. They run on and promise popular policies, and need to keep fighting for them and PASS them to retain their power, instead of moderating and caving to centrist or Republican demands which always ends up costing them elections because they don't do what they say and fulfill on their promises. It is still in the bill. The Republicans wanted to give 600, but the Democrats wanted them to up that amount to 2,000...not 2,600. The Republicans passed the aid for 600, so Democrats are still aiming for 2,000. We don’t have the details yet about the income cut off. All of the checks have been means tested. This one will be the same. Whether it is the same cut off or not, we don’t know yet. A one time payment isn’t good enough, that’s why there are funds set up to go for those that are unemployed and other aid going to help those who have lost their jobs or are struggling with their children being home. It took him two years to end the Iraq War. He kept sending a bunch of foreign aid to other countries. He was very important for LGBT rights, I’ll definitely give him that, but otherwise he was disappointing looking back. He’s a neoliberal centrist — a Third Way Democrat; the type of politician we need to retire from our government. If he was a UK politician he would be part of the Conservative Party.
