Ellen DeGeneres says her wife helped her get through the tough year

Ellen DeGeneres admitted wife Portia de Rossi has been her rock through the years as they starred on the cover of PEOPLE's first annual Love Issue.

The couple were a source of strength for one another last year after former employees of DeGeneres' talk show alleged a toxic work environment.

"It broke my heart; I couldn't have gone through everything I went through without her," allows DeGeneres. "It was a horrible time in my life, and she was a rock. She kept me going and tried to help me put things in perspective."

I’ve read the stories and I’m in no way on her side through all of this but I’m just beyond disappointed. I loved her show and always thought she was such a nice person. Guess behind the scenes is different.
