But there were too many republican senators that have already decided to give him a pass because they decided that he can't be impeached after he has left office. That's all the republicans want is a way out, that keeps them in the good graces of Trump voters. They attempt an armed coup of the US government at his direction. 5 people died, hundreds of representatives and leaders were in directly and lethal danger and Republicans' response boils down to "Let's just move on, huh? Holding him accountable will just divide us further " OT: No, they won't convict Trump. Then he'll run in 2024 and lose. No unity without accountability. His behaviour, if the Tweet is true, is also in violation of the proceeding rules as agreed by both parties (something about not distracting other members and not conducting other work during the proceedings). If they don't stamp out Trumpism (which is anything but conservative) it will destroy them, and here they have a perfect opportunity to get rid of him, but it looks like they're not going to do it.
