WHO : "Extremely unlikely" Covid leaked from lab

A team of international experts investigating the origins of Covid-19 have all but dismissed a theory that the virus came from a laboratory.

Peter Ben Embarek, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) mission, said it was "extremely unlikely" that the virus leaked from a lab in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

The comments came at the conclusion of a joint WHO-China mission.

Dr Embarek told a press conference that the investigation had uncovered new information but had not dramatically changed the picture of the outbreak.

Experts believe the virus is likely to have originated in animals, before spreading to humans, but they are not sure how.

Dr Embarek said work to identify the origins of Covid-19 pointed to a "natural reservoir" in bats, but that it was unlikely that this happened in Wuhan.

The experts said there was "no indication" that the virus was circulating in Wuhan before the first official cases were recorded there in December 2019.

It's not a Chinese virus.

Even if it were, it is affecting us globally and nobody is more/less guilty for it.

People who eat meat (bats) are responsible for it

The fact that people needed to hear it from WHO in order to believe it :selena:

Zoonotic disease would still be a thing even without meat consumption :oprah: And it's literally just bats anyway because their immune systems are freakishly weird.

Chinese goverment not telling the truth to the world in late 2019/early 2020 about covid seems quite guilty to me.

I'm not having fun tonight.

Occam's razor: the simplest answer is usually right.

Here's our options:

1) A Chinese conspiracy to create a virus with 98% survival rate as a bioweapon but it either escaped into Wuhan or they purposefully infected Wuhan citizens to test it and underestimated how contagious it was thus leading to a global pandemic. This virus was also, somehow, known about and used by every other government in the world as a means of both population control and political control. One particular example is that the US Democratic party used it to harm the US economy and the image of former President Trump leading to a situation where Joe Biden was able to sew chaos into the election system to cover up voter fraud and steal the election in order to usher in a communist regime for his Chinese owners.

Or...

2) Some dude ate a bat and caught a particularly infectious type of coronavirus.

Agreed^

They share a large portion of the blame for how bad it got/it is. Then the blame trickles down to other world governments for not acting soon enough or not taking it seriously.

Like Trump :huntyga:

None of that "Chinese virus" garbage though. Most of the world's governments just suck.
