Well, unfortunately one can't really "get rid" of a virus completely, you can only contain it. We need ways to deal with it like we have (or haven't) with the flu.

The jury is still out on whether or not the current AstraZeneca vaccine effectively mitigates severe illness and death (the trial didn't study this). But if it can't effectively mitigate mild-moderate illness in healthy young people, I am skeptical.
