Yeah this sounds like they either had it already or got exposed before the 2nd dose and weren't at the full immunization. Also I think Pzifer said you could still catch it but it would prevent any severity from taking form. Thankfully just mild cases at this stage post vaccination.

Hasn't it been said for a while that the Pfizer vaccine doesn't stop you from catching or spreading it? The aim is to stop you from getting it severely aka being hospitalised and/or dying, which is all we need.

Let me explain what is happening. The vaccines available currently DO NOT prevent you from catching the virus as they don’t produce neutralizing antibodies. What these vaccines do is prevent more severe symptoms. The fact that a nursing home had an outbreak and most of them have mild symptoms is quite a “nice” new. Hopefully they’ll get better soon. But yeah keep in mind that no vaccine right now is going to stop drastically the transmission of the virus per se.

Vaccinations can take up to two weeks to become acclimated to your body. Did they catch it before or after two weeks after the second vaccination.

Edit: Just found out they weren’t actually FULLY vaccinated like the article said. I hate COVID era clickbait.

This was expected statistically. Even the best vaccine is only 95% effective. What is great tho is that so far the vaccines are 100% effective at preventing death by covid-19, so the cases are all less severe.

Reporting the news isn't fear mongers, and no, we did not know this.

We have no clue and hardly any data on how the B.1.1.7 variant interacts with vaccinated people. They didn't get infected with the covid strain that the vaccine was made to prevent.

In fact, both the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines work specifically to penetrate the shell of the virus, which is exactly the thing that mutated in B.1.1.7. The variant, along with South African and Brazilian ones, have the same/similar mutation plus a mutation that we're pretty sure makes the virus more deadly.
