My take is from a sustainability stand point. 
 

I’m sure there is internal numbers and data to maximize exposure, sales, etc.

She has the cultural depth of a puddle, from a storytelling standpoint. 
 

However for me, they are purposeful and perfect for our time, and understands where we are from a metaphysical standpoint. Feeling connected emotionally to a major star because she is vulnerable, or perceived as vulnerable. We get music so easily on our phones, which are essentially personal, too. With the context that technology has separated individuals, and there is a loss in concepts like community and connection — that has been in a steady decline since the 1950s.

um, okay lol. it doesn’t take more than 2 brain cells to understand that she is doing this for charting and numbers. it’s smart in that way.

in regard to your last point literally every single popular artist/one percenter is obviously exploiting capitalism and consumerism. gaga oreos being the prime example of this. i don’t know why you’re singling out taylor swift as this big bad evil force in the music industry when literally every single artist is that way.
