It is clearly Chomatica or TFM

If I get it right, it's Joanne for me. This album seems so simple, but when you listen to it (especially with good headphones), you notice a huge amount of detail that is not lost in the mix. Personally, as a musician/producer, I still wonder how they were able to create such a clean sound. It's quite possible that the lack of fat basses and loud synths create this feeling. The second most polished album for me is Chomatica, but again, the instrumentals are much simpler than in the previous albums. I would like to hear her first albums with a new mix, so that you can hear cool things that you can't always notice.

100% Chromatica. In some cases, such as Rain On Me and Free Woman, the official versions sound too polished compared to the demo version.

ARTPOP is my favourite thing ever to have been made in humanity, but I can’t say its exactly POLISHED :lolga: Some songs are meant to be over the top in their production and that comes at a lack of streamlining. Venus for example is one of the most chaotically layered songs ever but its her second best (first is MJH which incidentally has the same quality to it).

Chromatica and TFM on the other hand, due to their more commercial appeal (not a bad thing, I fkn LOVE these albums with my life) have highly sophisticated, streamlined productions with just the right amount of layers to each production so that no song sounds overproduced or excessively noisy when it shouldn’t be.

BTW definitely takes the cake for least polished, but the roughness is part of its genius and why it ends up being quality-wise Gaga’s best album.

Joanne in its more traditional approach is perfectly polished to the same degree as TFM and Chromatica, but since the genre isn’t Dance Pop I can’t really judge them the same way I guess? My engagement with it is definitely coloured by my personal taste which is more in line with ARTPOP for example. Mark Ronson is a known perfectionist and very methodical so I’m sure technically he didn’t let anything slide.

I think ARTPOP, it does sound very clean to me as well. Also there is no point on it where I'm thinking about why did they do it that way or why did they make that decision... As much as I love Chromatica there are some points where I have questions. After ARTPOP I would put TFM and Joanne

Hmmm.... I think as a whole, Chromatica. You can tell that all of the songs went through a lot of changes and versions. That’s VERY evident when you listen to the demo versions/snippets of Rain On Me, Free Woman, and Babylon. I wish the other song demos would leak. :lolly:

I feel like with Born This Way and ARTPOP, most of the songs are polished but not all (mostly the singles).

Chromatica and TFM.

ARTPOP is partially polished, since some tracks like MJH and Donatella sound kinda kinda unpolished and unmastered

Most definitely Chromatica. I would define ‘the most polished album’ as the Gaga album w the most reiterations and attempts to achieve perceived perfection. And with only 13 full length tracks (the shortest Dance-Pop Gaga album) and hearing how vastly different some of the demos are from the final products, it does seem as tho it was all very deliberated and intentional, whether it turned out to be something that one would enjoy or not.
