You’ve literally been imply that, you don’t have to act dumb in no sense is $1400 for every individual “too little” in the context of a larger 2.9 trillion dollar package... But hey why don’t we scrap that bill so we can put Bernie’s M4A plan on the floor

The reason that one in every five dollars is spent on healthcare is because of our privatized system. Also, Bernie wrote the bill years ago. Don't gaslight me. The Democratic Party is bought out by the capitalist/billionaire class, and that's a fact whether you want to acknowledge it or not. M4A would help with vaccine distribution, it would prevent deaths, and it would ensure that nobody ends up bankrupted from becoming sick. It would ensure that even when people lose their jobs during the pandemic, they would still not have to worry about health care. And that's just a few reasons on the top of my head. How are y'all so oblivious? It's concerning. Literally how... If we’re oblivious, you’re naive Thinking that one of the least productive and popular senator’s bills could be pushed through when all it takes is one senator to object to kill it... When it comes to our current crisis: 3 trillion dollars in immediate stimulus >>>>>> M4A in 12-14 months from now

I don't really give a sh*t about Bernie, so insult him all you want. If Democrats wanted to give poor people health care during a pandemic, they could eliminate the filibuster and pass M4A in one day. Hell, they could pass ACTUAL, substantial Covid relief that same day, if they actually cared about their constituents. It was a 1.9T package, you realize? And where are you getting this mystical 12-14mo timeline for M4A? Did you just make it up? Uh Obamacare was a much smaller reconstruction of our healthcare system and it took wayyyu longer than 14 months to implement Is there any reason M4A would be quicker? Whispering 18,865
2 minutes ago, TheQueenLG said: Omg, you really don't understand this, do you? People who don't have health insurance delay going to the doctor's to receive care because they do not want to bankrupt themselves by committing the crime of needing treatment. This delay in care results in worsened disease, which leads to deaths that would have prevented had people not been so concerned about the cost. Studies show that Medicare for All would save nearly 70,000 lives every year because it would eliminate these delays, increase the preventative care, eliminate drug rationing, among others. If we had a single-payer system in which poor people were not terrified to go to the doctor, thousands of the people who died from covid would have been saved. This is the systemic violence that neoliberals like Joe Biden perpetuate, in addition to police violence, military violence, and more. 1400 is not enough, regardless of whatever other crumbs are thrown into the paltry package. He promised 2000, which wasn't enough either, but it should be pointed out that he has already lied about a major campaign promise. Covid isn’t a sickness that can be ignored, once it starts attacking the immune system in a significant way. When that happens, people without insurance show up in the ER and are admitted. They aren’t treated any differently than those who have insurance by the doctors and nurses that are there to provide medical care. M4A is not going to be passed in a month. (or even months) You can’t pass it under Reconciliation, but Covid relief can be done under Reconciliation, which means it can pass quickly. Right now, the most important legislation needs to be getting immediate funds to unemployed people, funding schools so they can safely open, (which helps lower income parents greatly) helping small businesses stay open, and protections for renters and home owners and getting the vaccine out to everyone. These benefits help the lower and middle class and are not “paltry” by any means. 1.9 trillion is not a small amount. 1400 is what is left to get to 2000, after the 600 given earlier. Those who are unemployed will also have loan forgiveness, renters protection and increased UI benefits. That may not seem like much to you, but unemployed individuals will greatly benefit from these extended relief programs.
