so he's made his fortune now he's gone? glad to see he's done what so many have done, found a huge company, make billions then leave even the lightest, least difficult work for someone else to do whilst you're living a more than comfortable life in your mansion

I wouldnt go as far as to say lightest least difficult work. Business executives work crazy amount of hours many weeks, often why they also dont have a life and always end up in divorce :vegas:

Also no need to hate that he leaves. At least it gives aj oppurtunity for someone LESS wealthy who the pay will actually make a difference to to climb up and take advantage of oppurntunity

At this point im sure Jezz only stayed more as a hobby or sense of pride. His pay as CEO would make no difference to him whatsoever at this point :enigma:

I guess this is good news, for him? He has billions and billions of dollars. If I had that much money, I’d never work again! :flutter:

What does this mean? How does Bezos' ownership/role change/his net worth, etc?

It doesnt change his net worth at all. Ppl often mistake CEO as "the owner" of the company. Its a totally seperate thing although its not uncommon for the CEO to be the founder and largest shareholder as well but it doesnt have to be

CEO is just the top position in running the company. It doesnt necessairily have to be the person who is the largest shareholder that has to have that position (although again it often is because often whoever started the company chooses to be CEO, if the founder is no longer alive, a large shareholder is also more likely to be appointed the position than someone who has little or no ownership of the company)

Him steping down just means someone else will get the top position in running the company. But the shares he owns in the company is a seperate thing. He can keep them or sell them.

He will loose the CEO pay but its such a fraction of his over all net worth that it makes no difference for him

“Andy embodies the culture of Amazon,” said Matt McIlwain, the managing director of Madrona Venture Group, a Seattle venture firm that invests in cloud start-ups. “He has consistently demonstrated the ability to be a builder."

Don’t expect anything revolutionary, but hope Amazon workers get treated better

Many step down as CEO, they remain the founder, the advisor, part of the making decision process without having to do various tasks on a daily basis that take so much energy. Bill Gates stepped down as CEO of microsoft as well, even the beauty brand entrepreneur Huda Kattan stepped down as CEO. It doesn't mean they wont get any income from the company at all, they're off to other things without being tied down to the job at the office, it's just a billionaire move tbh

Good idea. He probably got enough money to retire after a month of employment there lol.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

I doubt that. The salary itself for CEO was like $81,000 a year (i dont know if he had bonuses tho he may have as many CEOs have comissiom bonuses when they outperform or reach targets) :enigma:

I guess he never bothered to adjust it since he was so rich from the company already and made no difference :emma:

Ill be honest if i had a huge networth from a company i started and the pay as CEO no longer made any difference i too would retire tbh. Why keep killing yourself with work if u dont have to? :emma:

I'm sure he's still going to be super, ultra-wealthy -- but this is fun to see!  C'mon GameStop and Redditors screwing with Wall Street! :vegas:
