I'm actually surprised at how many seem to agree with that rule?

How about trying to incorporate new technology into the learning environment than banning it from schools? I get that phones can be a distraction to many but how about teaching pupils how they can use them responsible and as an enhancement?

It just seems very backwards thinking to me..

The thing is though (and it’s frustrating) a lot of the school curriculum is web based so students kinda get left behind if they don’t use technology

This. A lot of rules like this seem to be fighting an uphill battle. Phones and technology is going to be apart of our lives. Better to make it apart of education than to ban it altogether.

It's easy to suggest that but... what could they do to make phones both educational and not distracting? It's hard enough to keep the attention of teenagers as is, imagine having to do it with cellphones in their hands. I can't think of anything that phones can bring to the table that doesn't have a better alternative and that doesn't bring distraction. And in case someone needs it for certain reasons, the parents can give them a permission slip. Let's not make teachers' lives harder for the sake of "progress" unless someone has an actually good progressive idea
