Perth in lockdown, ending Australia's two-week run without COVID-19

The Australian city of Perth was ordered into lockdown on Sunday after a security guard working in hotel quarantine tested positive for COVID-19, ending the country’s longest coronavirus-free run.

From Sunday evening until Friday, people in Perth must stay home, except for essential work, healthcare, grocery shopping or exercise, with visits to hospitals and nursing homes banned.

Perth had recorded no cases of the virus for 10 months, and Australia just hours earlier had announced 14 days without a locally acquired infection.

Based off the variants present in the hotel where the man worked, the case may well be of the highly contagious UK variant, which was present on the same floor where the man worked.

The guy has been to several places all over the area also which is a huge concern for community spread.

I suspect we will see the cases increase soon.

This is not so surprising : they have only one case and already lockdown while other countries waiting with lockdown until they have thousands of cases.
Australia closed borders back in March and banned all travelers from China on February 1st, 2020.
The only people who can travel to Australia are: Australian citizens, residents, immediate family members ,travellers who have been in New Zealand for the previous 14 days (not including time in managed quarantine).  source
Every person arriving in Australia has to spend 14 days in quarantine in hotel.

God I really wish they had closed the airports down right away in Canada  it was a huge mistake to wait so long to have any regulation in terms of people entering the country from traveling abroad.  hate it here!!!
