Why is Vogue working with TikTokkers though :neyde:

Cause, sadly, they're the new youtubers whatever we like or not. They're the current key to reach the teen target so medias will use them to death, probably for the years to come.

Because like it or not, they represent our times. This is exactly how people talked about Andy Warhol in the 60s, dismissing him because he’s not a “real” artist, and years later he’s so respected.

"I was also really scared because I saw someone make a TikTok, saying that they would play my songsat a frat party. That's really what like turned me away from going to school because I don't think I could handle that level of embarrassment,” she said.

Alright, I’m really tired of the cancel culture but when someone shows this level of unawareness I find it hard to sympathize with them. Do your thing twitter, I guess. :billie:

Born This Way

That's a lot of emotion for some girl not wanting to go to college :ladyhaha: I don't care about either D'Amelios but the constant bitching about them on tiktok and twitter is obnoxious. Because they got popular on an app and have flippant attitudes? Girl...

Not saying I don't also love to hate things or people but it's a huge waste to use that energy on these two.

Doesn’t she make like $3m a year? She’s obviously set for life and can do whatever she wants

But I get it doe. So many people struggling with college debts and this bratty bitch does nothing, it’s annoying I’m sorry

Nobody has to come up with "appropriate" reasons not to pursue further education. It's your choice. She already said beforehand that she couldn't do the back and forth travelling as she prefers home comforts and this was added as an afterthought, she probably meant it kinda flippantly. And if you made nearly $3 million last year, would you bother with college? Lots of social media stars don't pursue that stuff as they've had a job from a young age and this is their life and income, what would college give them? What seems to be getting people the most annoyed is the fact that Vogue is interviewing a TikTok star and that she doesn't have anything of interest to say. And I'm inclined to agree. I really don't agree with making TikTokers a thing. YouTubers, fair enough, at least they offer more than 15 seconds of content to the world. But TikTokers can be here today, gone tomorrow and a lot of them are really young, super privileged and let all the fame go to their head. And they make crazy money and it encourages other young people to make their living this way instead of pursuing a job of substance. So saying, they interviewed Hilaria Baldwin last year and she isn't even famous in her own right, so it really shows they're interviewing anyone right now.

But this aside, I only found out who this girl was last year when she did that song with Liam Payne and I'm just now finding out she's a TikToker, the 7th most followed and 3rd highest paid in the world. And then I went onto her YouTube - she only has 3 music videos but she already has 7.3 million subscribers, her first video has 100 million views and 5.1 million likes and its only been up for 6 months and her regular vlog-esque videos regularly get over 6 million views on average. Despite all this, she can't even chart. I'm wondering if she's an industry plant? I'm always suspicious of acts that have great YouTube stats but can't get any level of a hit and very few people know of them. Even more so when they don't write their own material.

Butters Stotch

Literally who cares? She can afford college, and she gets to decide whether she wants to attend or not, no matter how ridiculous the reason may be for some people. Nobody's business.

People are not mad she doesnt want to go to college, they think it's stupid to say you dont wanna go to college bcs u heard a rumor that people would be playing your song in a frat party. It pisses people off because people in the US save money for decades, and try very hard to get into college, whether they'd think they'd be embarassed they wouldn't care, they would work hard to get there and have a diploma and better job in the future. So what she said she didnt realize but it sounds bratty and stupid

That's a weird reason to not want to go to college but it's her choice.

I just find it insane how people go into enormous amounts of debt and work so hard to get to college and better themselves in the US but someone like her can just say I want to go but nah they might play my songs at a party.
