I completely understand your point on the EU and the nation itself being generally opposed to these types of laws. But to say the majority didn’t vote for the current government? Isn’t that literally democracy - the party or candidate with the most votes wins? It’s like saying the majority of people in the U.K. didn’t vote for the Tory party. If they hadn’t they wouldn’t be in power

Due to the First-Past-the-Post system the vast majority of those voted actually never voted for the Tories, they only got 43.6% of the vote meaning 56.% of people voted against the Government.

Sex ed, contraceptives, women's healthcare, teaching young men and women about consent - these are PROVEN to lower abortion rates dramatically.

There is no chance that polish kids will learn anything about sex in school while country is rulled by right wing.

There is subject like 'Family life education' in school but there is nothing about sex.
I had the same teacher who also taught Religious Education so it was like Religious Education x2. It was a woman who boasted she never used contraceptives and was blessed with 5 kids and she said we have to trusting God with everything.

Catholic church is against teaching about sex, contraceptives etc. and since in Poland church have really high position  instead of learning kids about important things we have obligatory Religious Education.

Religious/ Catholic Education is obligatory subject in school from age 7 to 18. You get grades, you have exams, you need to learn prayers by heart, this is like maths etc. you have to pass it. You must have a notebook, you even get grade for it and you also show this notebook to priest who visits your home once in a year. The lessons are 2 times in a week, many teachers complain that it is too much because other subjects are often only once a week.
You can choose Ethics (if you get your parents permission) instead of Religious Education but it usually means you have stay after school 2-3 hours.

Duh, right after my college with my friend we are moving to France, Italy or Spain. That's why I'm studying French Philology tbh..

You're welcome in France if ever you chose to come. :kara:
