Kick your self then if you got such an amazing advices.. :madge:

Poland is a nation, not goverment, and majority of polish people didnt want to change abortion law. Kicking out of EU will be punishment for the people, not for the goverment

They should use some sanctions and threaten to stop UE money for Poland instead

So please think twice next time

poland should be thrown out for the abortion law and their discrimination towards lgbt+ people

They are paying into the EU. Things need to change within the EU but then getting kicked out could potentially f**k Poland up and nobody wants that

All the "kick Poland out of the EU" people, you do realize what you're saying is "let's limit opressed Polish folks' ability to migrate to more accepting countries"? As a Polish national myself—it would only make matters worse, as the government would totally stop caring about the international law and could implement pretty much whatever legislation they wish to. Apart from that, y'all should focus on the way that the EU isn't doing anything substantial to change our situation, operating mostly within releasing acts with no true legal power. "Calling" for change when they literally have the powers to make change happen.

The thing is, we're all f* furious. The truth is, the majority of us did not vote for this government. The majority of us are against the abortion ban. We're all sick and tired of having to protest for our basic rights, whether it be for women, queer people or minorities.

In the meantime, please speak up about this to your friends, Instagram followers, literally whoever. There will be mass protests tonight and police brutality is to be expected. People need to know about this.

That's what my concern with being kicked out of the EU is too. I would say that it would just give the government greater ability to ignore international law and norms.

Hope not. I'm human, without eu my life will be even worse.

Well I hope it doesn't happen but the Polish government needs to comply with the EU rules. I hope something changes.

Damn am I hitting a nerve or something? If the Polish government can't comply with the EU guidelines I wouldn't be surprised if they got kicked.

I never said it was my opinion, I just said that it might happen if the government stray too far away from EU. Chilé.:triggered:

So dumb. Bans never work for anything. Prohibition isn't a solution. Regulation and prevention is key.

Sex ed, contraceptives, women's healthcare, teaching young men and women about consent - these are PROVEN to lower abortion rates dramatically.

All a ban does is make unsafe abortion a certainty.

I completely understand your point on the EU and the nation itself being generally opposed to these types of laws. But to say the majority didn’t vote for the current government? Isn’t that literally democracy - the party or candidate with the most votes wins? It’s like saying the majority of people in the U.K. didn’t vote for the Tory party. If they hadn’t they wouldn’t be in power

I think that it depends on the electoral system. For instance, in the UK we use FPTP which uses simple plurality to establish a winner. This means that you don't need a majority of votes, as in 50% +1, you only need a majority of seats (326 seats). At the last election the Tory's did not receive over 50% of the vote, meaning that most people didn't vote for them. In most cases, you just need the more votes than any other party in order to secure a parliamentary majority, but a parliamentary majority does not equate to a voting majority. However, there's also the odd case where a party can win an election, despite having fewer votes than another party. This occurred in the February 1974 general election, as the Tory's received more votes than Labour, but less seats, which was one of the reasons there was another election later in the year.

However, with the case of Poland, I'm uncertain as I don't know much about the Polish electoral system.
