Foreigners caught without masks in Bali are are forced to do push-ups

Bali security officers have been forcing foreigners caught without wearing a face mask to do twenty-five push-ups in the street amid the Covid pandemic.

The fine for failing to wear a mask is 100,000 Rupiah or about AUD $9 ($7 USD) and the head of the public order police said they were now considering increasing it to AUD $50 ($39 USD). For those who claim not to have cash on them to pay, they are asked to do push-ups or sweep the street.




Around 8,860 violations of Bali's coronavirus laws have been recorded this week, most in tourist areas and 80% of the people fined for flouting the rules were foreigners

In Bali, Covid numbers are rapidly increasing with 579 deaths and more than 20,255 confirmed cases.

I can't tell you how much westerners feel so superior when they visit countries here in the east. Especially when the locals don't know how to speak English, jesus the god complex on these people. I'm not saying all westerners do this, of course; but, a majority of travelers I personally met are just like these guys in the photo: arrogant, rude, and entitled. Hello, you're a visitor in someone else's land, respect the people that actually live there ffs.
