As someone who used to self harm, this is a huge reach. If it was red maybe. It it was a red liquid liner dripping down, totally. But a black liner? Seriously?

What Haus Labs posted was a video tho and not a picture. The woman was “slashing” her arm with the micro tip eyeliner to show how precise it is. EVERYONE in the comment section was complaining about how triggering the video was and how they should take it down (went through the comments when the video was still up)

Shouldn’t this be a beef with the makeup industry at large since this is a common tactic for swatching? I get someone feeling a certain way about this, but I would maybe find it more productive to refer to this ad in the broader context of the industry since that’s where it pulls from rather than as a lone offender.

I've seen so many promos and companies swatch eyeliners on the wrist like this and I've never seen it mentioned as triggering until now... as a former cutter myself I find this response to be pathetic at the very least. Deal with the decisions you have made in your life, it is perfectly normal to harbour guilt and regret but stop trying to blame the world for setting you on a downward spiral over something like a makeup swatch...

Should every makeup artist on Youtube be flagged then for testing products on their arms?..

So many people on this website are cruel and lacking in empathy :yennefer: It’s pretty sad.

They posted a video where the woman was slashing at her arm with the eyeliner pen, not at all how you would apply eyeliner to your face so it wasn’t like when people swatch make up on their wrist because that is usually done in a slow deliberate way. It makes sense that someone scrolling through their feed, suddenly seeing that would catch them off guard.

Luckily haus labs removed the video when they got that feedback.

Fix your damn hearts.

I get it too. I am a massive Gaga fan, tho a trigger is a trigger. To be honest, the comments aren't attacking LG or the makeup brand, they're asking them to reconsider the post―which HL did, respectfully. I do not self-harm, but I can EASILY see how that picture, (and I believe it was a video,) could trigger someone who has self-harmed before. This is nothing to be "cancelled" over; it was healthy criticism and their team handled it well. Paws stay up, this is not news. :)
