Brazil's Amazonas state running out of oxygen

The Brazilian state of Amazonas is running out of oxygen during a renewed surge in COVID-19 deaths, its government said on Thursday, with media reporting that people on respirators were dying of suffocation in hospitals.

The state has made a dramatic appeal to the United States to send a military transport plane to the capital city Manaus with oxygen cylinders

Brazil is home to the world’s second-deadliest coronavirus outbreak after the United States.

Health authorities said oxygen supplies had run out at some hospitals and intensive care wards were so full that scores of patients were being airlifted to other states.
People in Manaus are again dying at home.

To make matters worse, a new variant of the virus was detected in Japan in four people from Amazonas. Researchers have not established how infectious or lethal the variant is.

Seeing how the government is treating the pandemic since it started... I'm more shook that the whole country isn't on fire yet 

Dismissing the deaths as "unfortunate but inevitable", that "everybody dies one day", comparing COVID to a mild flu, endorsing and going to protests maskless...

One of the states went through a 2 weeks blackout and he (and the media tbh) only said something about it on the 12nd day without energy 

Yet, much like Trump, he's still popular and people here do the craziest mental gynastics to defend him.

Truly sad, dark times.
