A wealth tax is a good thing. That should be implemented on a National scale. Most extremely wealthy people’s wealth is tied up in assets and not necessarily income, so this is actually more equitable.

Generally speaking, higher taxes are a good thing, namely on large corporations and high income earners.

Maybe they should simply turn over all their income to the State ....???

No sense in allowing successful people to control their own funds ....

Ew since when did Republicans come onto GagaDaily.

Common sense isn't a political side ...

The current state of the economy in California has to do with policy not party ...

Higher taxes are fine as long as people see the returns.

If I'm paying more taxes, I expect that money to go towards some sh*t that'll benefit me and/or other regular people. Fix the roads, pay our medical bills, educate the kids and young adults, stuff like that.

I think the theory a lot of people have too is that paying more in taxes should lower your cost of living. Idk how that works out in California :laughga:

The taxes are meant to be distributed to the public sector thru 'services' and roads ect... correct...

No question about that...

It's the fact that middle and lower income brackets 'pay' the wealth tax thru higher rent and higher price for essential good ... like fuel and food and clothing  and transportations...

'Rich' corporations provide said service as their business and simply pass on the 'tax' in their pricing ...

A simple fact that seems to be overlooked ...

I don't see any 'better' government services in high tax states either ...

Tax increases generally don’t affect the working class. Higher payroll taxes do, but marginal tax rates don’t.  Did you know the 1950’s had a top marginal tax rate of 91%? Very few paid that much, but that shocked me. Modern Americans HATE high taxes. The 1950’s also had 20 tax brackets, whereas now we only have 7.

Not true ...  property taxes directly result in higher rents for 'everyone' who rents.

Retail rent gets paid for by 'higher' prices for 'everyone'

The tax rates of the 1950's are completely irrelevant to current economic conditions.

Y’all do know the majority of California’s taxes go to Education and Healthcare, right? Conservatives love to complain about higher taxes but take the labor force they benefit from for granted. You can’t have one without the other.

Other states have better education and healthcare yet their tax rates are lower....

Go figure.

Yeah, 'cause they were fed the lie that if you cut taxes and regulation for the rich CEOs and moguls then they pass those savings down in the form of higher wages and lower prices :lmao:

When in truth, they just hoard the money either literally, in physical assets, or in stocks that only make them richer.

Uhm,, cost of essential good in California are much higher than most other states...

Can you explain that?

Go figure.

Other states do not have better education or health care and the fact that you used a video from a right wing source who literally has videos going against COVID restriction guidelines and bypassing them.

I can see where your mentality comes from when it comes to you saying things have to do with “politics” not “party”

Yes, these policies exist in every state and have led to the same issues in every state :laughga:

Many members here are part of the "eat the rich" party :fan: including myself :fan:

Rich people are the biggest leeches on our society, no question. Low wages, high prices, lower general tax revenue, lobbying to cut regulations that protect workers' rights and the environment...I have no trouble saying f*ck 'em all :laughga:

I'm not choosing my sources base on party ...

The information provided isn't party motivated ... its mathematically themed with emotional overtones at to the mental state of California leadership decisions ...

To me... the policies not the party are the problem here...

The people make the policies ... so I posted it ...

Exactly, I live in California, we’re literally known for having one of the biggest college/university education in the world and California is known for aiding low income communities and minorities into helping them advance into higher education and post secondary school.

there’s literally no facts in the statement
