I don’t follow this a lot. With those 4 new republicans turning on him how many are still needed?

Since the Dems have control of the House, they didn't really need these Representatives to turn, they only need half majority.

Conviction in the Senate will require 2/3 majority however, meaning 67 senators. So we'd need 19 of them to jump ship, but no Republican Senators have really spoken yet, apart from McConnell being "happy with the impeachment" whatever that means.

Doesn't McConnell have some authority or at least persuasive power? Isn't it "his" Senate? I never thought I'd say this but can they listen to him? :bear:

Loooool I hope they do, but he hasn't formally said he would vote to convict though. He might think the House impeaching him a second time will do enough "good" without the Senate having to actually act on it.

If he does though, I guess it might tip the scales, since he's their Majority Leader after all... but then again, last time Romney was the only one, and his stance against Trump made him lose a lot of influence in the party.

One can only hope

CNN said they have an estimate of ~ 20 so far, so fingers crossed. I don't trust McConnell at all, but part of me hopes that's a good sign with what's to come tomorrow.
