The EU has (somewhat) high standards about pest control and food hygiene (which honestly are still way too low). The UK, since leaving the EU, has lower standards of food safety and soon will become a haven of imported, low-quality American bleach chicken. UK meat, dairy & produce will now be more prone for being riddled with parasites because of the decrease of quality (and the lack of controlling) while trying to stay competitive in the WW market and it won't be a year until the first food scandal will emerge due to the governments neo-liberal greed. The EU has every right to stop the bag of everybody who wants to bring safety hazards for the general public (that could create entire new pandemics) into the Union.
