I wonder when y’all are gonna start calling her “iconic” and “legendary” for having one #1 song. :yennefer:

I came across this song the other day with my fiancé and the song genuinely stirred my insides. Especially the bridge and towards the end. It sounds insane, but it brought back feelings of heartbreak. Y’all might think it’s a snooze fest because it’s not a Rain on Me crying on the dance floor banger, but Jesus it’s good.

Gaga started off with one number one song. Looks at her now! You just have to let the artists bloom and grow. Jealousy is a disease, die slow. (Jk I only said that because it rhymed :ladyhaha:)

i'm rooting for any young new talent, but this song? idgi, it's any regular old ballad, and not anything particularly memorable, i can't wrap my head around this :poot:

but i wish her all the best! huge to start off your career with your debut single debuting at #1 (who was the last artist to do this?? has it ever even happened?)

I’m not jealous and I’m not hating her. I’m more dragging stan culture in general since they call anyone with a hit song “iconic” nowadays. :awkney:

I read somewhere that this is her debut right? Wouldn’t this make her one of the few artists ( alongside Gaga ) to have her debut song go nr 1? And also her debut song to debut ( if this is the first week ) at nr 1? Isn’t that lowkey CRAZY? Wow

Yes! It was just released on Friday. It deserves the hype it’s getting and I’d love to see what else she has in store. She’s only 17 too!

I mean it just debuted on Friday, her first single, and is already going to top the charts. She’s only 17 so this is an amazing start to her career - I could see this maintaining a top position for quite awhile too.

I think it sounds fresh for the charts - sure it’s nothing beyond unique but this style isn’t really what is topping the charts these days. I really love the song.

Like I said “Jk I only said that because it rhymed” I’m excited to see her follow up! The only thing I have my eyes set on are the positives!

I never trashed billie, ava, or olivia. The song’s vocals are nice. But you have to admit, she literally just spawned out of nowhere with a #1 hit. I don’t think any of us had known who she was a week ago. :awkney:

you guys kinda are. insinuating that there's something wrong that she's getting rapid attention. we live in the 21st century where anyone can go viral overnight. i dont see the point being mad that some random person is having a successful debut.

well maybe I overreacted but am just sad that such songs that are catering to basic white high school vsco girl audience always have the best streams, this girl is indeed talented butam just sad that girls such is:

Rina Sawayama

Alice Chater

ChloeXHalle

and many other, are not having this kind of response and those girl are trying to push boundaries or at least trying to do something more exciting and original

When Gaga showed up she was DIFFERENET and that made me happy back than, but am not hating this girl by any means, just kind over of same type of singers rising...

why is that "sad". saying it's catering to a demographic you think isnt tasteful isn't an argument because that's your opinion on music in general, and we're talking about pop music - a genre that is easy and comfortable for most people.

the only artists i know out of those three is rina, who uses elements of other genres such as metal and j pop into her music, plus her entire vibe is like an early 2000's pop star, which isn't the mainstream's attention right now, so it's no wonder why she doesn't have as much attention as Olivia right now. doesn't mean she's better or worse than olivia,

all i'm saying is this forum seems to have an issue with EVERY new pop girl over the past few years. first you guys bullied halsey, then dua, now you love dua, then it was "ava is copying gaga", then you guys tore billie eilish apart because of her music style and stage persona, now you're trashing olivia because you think she's "basic". i don't see the point on being rude and stressing yourselves out over people existing in the music scene. go listen to ARTPOP and focus on music you enjoy. it's not that hard to just be kind or indifferent to people.

The welcoming wave of support and acceptance from the swifties to Olivia is a very fresh and positive change I'm glad happened from the way Arianators treated Madison Beer:bear:

anyways the song is a cute sad song but I'm hoping she delivers some bops too!

this song's success is unprecedented lmao

i've listened to the song twice now and it still doesn't do anything for me, it literally sounds like a album filler track to me, so the fact that it could possibly be a #1 hit is mind-boggling to me

as for olivia herself, i have to look into her more but i've seen good things about her so far on social media & stuff. like she's covered edge of glory before and she's also a stan for like many artists
