I think there's going to be A LOT of pressure on many of these GOP senators to vote to convict him after what happened on Wednesday.

I have hope that Republicans will use this as an opportunity to both rid their party of Trump (no 2024 run if he's convicted) and they can ignore him afterwards because he'd be a criminal & most likely in federal prison. Mitt Romney was the only Rep to vote to remove Trump in Impeachment #1, and he said that he won't do it again and would rather wait for Trump's term to expire. I don't think it'll happen but would be happily proven wrong!

As wishy-washy as she is, Susan Collins could cross the line after what happened to the Capitol.

They can get rid of Trump but the GOP won’t suddenly be better. Trumpism is here to stay. We must battle for our lives to stop this type of person seizing power again. Yeah but even after all the events, there were still those who objected the results of the vote. Idk, I think if it happened nearly immediately they would do it but now that there will be a few days - they won’t acquit.

He can still be prosecuted by state or federal AG's but that's a completely separate apparatus. I’ve been following this exact discussion and it is not that cut and dry. No one knows the answer clearly, because it’s worded broadly. Which is why I said exactly what I said. It took barely any research to see that. History will not remember him kindly.
