Athletes should be prioritised for the novel coronavirus vaccine so the Olympic Games Tokyo can go ahead later this year, according to Canadian Pound, the longest-serving member of the International Olympics Committee.

“In Canada where we might have 300 or 400 athletes - to take 300 or 400 vaccines out of several million in order to have Canada represented at an international event of this stature, character and level - I don’t think there would be any kind of a public outcry about that,” told Pound.

Tokyo residents believe it will be difficult, perhaps impossible, to host the Olympic Games safely.

The global sports showpiece is now slated to start in less than 200 days and run from July 23 to Aug. 8 and it’s only two and a half months until the torch relay

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga reiterated on Thursday his intention to hold the Games.

Over 15,000 athletes from across the world are expected to descend on Tokyo for the Games, leading to concerns they may bring new mutations of the virus to Japan.

That's 300-400 nurses or doctors or frontliners or elderly people or people at risk who deserve and need the vaccine asap

all I'm saying is if you're an athlete your body is generally a lot healthier and probably able to handle health issues a lot easier than an elderly person but I'm not a scientist so what do I know.

Not true. Being young and not belonging to the risk group is far more important.

Anyway. why would we have an Olympic in the midst of a pandemic? The cases are rising, there are more people dying now than at the previous peak of the pandemic. We are living the current second peak of the pandemic. This is not the time to think about bullsh*t like the Olympics. Entertainment is necessary, but not an Olympic!

I am authistic, so don't be offended if I make a mess sometimes.
