you aware of blood and gaga really made chromatica a house dance classic album right? in interview i believe blood said he use old school stuff to create sound and beat so it sound dance house authentic. they are not experimenting that hard like ARTPOP or the fame sisters and born this way, every album is different, i just dont get it when monsters comparing her album one another when every album pretty much different vibe and production

Joanne is a more creative album than Chromatica

It has a more Gaga feel to the album. It isn’t just a basic ‘country’ album people portray it as, it covers so many elements - dance, electro, bluegrass, reggae, folk, jazz, rock whereas Chromatica has a very similar sound through it and sounds very tailored towards the radio

Joanne is definitely more diverse of sound and style, but I'm not sure if I'd call it more creative. I think Chromatica is very creative but also very focused and cohesive. The scope of Chromatica is very limited, yet there is an abundance of nuance. From a distance Chromatica might seem like generic dance-pop but when you take a closer look it really blends different subgenres of pop and edm in very unique ways. There's super specific combinations of 90s EDM/pop and 2010's EDM/pop that I've never heard done before. It's like how she created a unique fusion sound for BTW but more focused and polished.

I don't think 'more creative' is the right wording for what you mean, because there is absolutely no lack of creativity in Chromatica. Every song is complex and very well written and produced labour of love, crafted by very creative individuals.

I think maybe you're trying to say that you find Joanne to be more diverse  and experimental sonically. But either way, we don't need to tear down one of her bodies of work in order to praise another. Just say Joanne is your favourite and you love it because of X, Y, Z. Unless you're going for a hit thread on Gagadaily.com and need the controversy on your side

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Just say y’all hate the Chromatica era and go

I don’t hate the Chromatica era. Just realised over time no much thought when into the album.

REALITY

Also, not y’all sticking up for Joanne now when people like me defended it since day 1. Next era y’all are gonna say, “the promo for Chromatica actually wasn’t that bad” :triggered:

In terms of production you maybe have an argument. A-Yo IMO is one of her weirdest songs, and Angel Down was a really interesting approach to a ballad.

Lyrically though it was super bland, and in terms of aesthetic/presentation the whole "this is the real me" "stripped back" thing was so predictable for this album.

How was it predictable? I was really surprised that she did that.

I know I'm gonna get dragged but Joanne is sonically, lyrically, and aesthetically more pleasing than Chromatica. Chromatica does talk more in depth about her mental health and such, but the lyrics are so direct, often I feel like they don't have a secondary meaning or subtext.

I agree Chromatica is a better concept album, I love the idea of Chromatica as a world. Joanne it was just like the spirit of Joanne influencing Gaga.

ROM is still in my top 3 Gaga songs tho.

Lmao they blocked my signature

i wholeheartedly disagree. Chromatica feels a lot more personal and truthful than Joanne ever did. You can tell Gaga was a lot more comfortable working with EDM. Chromatica feels effortless and smoothe, Joanne is tryhard, unaccessible and convoluted.

Joanne was not try hard :toofunny: Chromatica is an album for the charts - Ariana Grande, Blackpink - it is her first album since The Fame where she doesn’t have any production credits apart from the instrumentals.

When I look back, I really pretended to like Joanne but it’s totally her weakest album, it’s not that I hate it but I just don’t listen to it anymore just like ARTPOP

You cannot call an album creative when there is a song about a dead relative and two songs later a song about masturbation, just a look at the first two unspectacular mv‘s would give you the answer about it’s lack of creativity, even the song with RedOne or Florence were not what we all expected

Chromatica is a concept album, with no fillers, the best photoshoots and AMAZING visuals. How is it not creative to have an album about a colored world called Chromatica that is the complete opposite to how she feels inside and how the reality of our world is? I only wished they would have introduce the tribes more it was an interesting point but I guess this was also affected by the whole messy roll-out... it is indeed her best album at the wrongest time

I love Joanne, but the first half of the album is cohesive and strong, while the second half is a little all over the place. Diamond Heart through Million Reasons (Tracks 1-7) are brilliant. And while I like most of the tracks after, they just don't have that same "dive bar" feel in many ways. More creative? I guess it was definitely more unexpected.

I get your point but i personally think that it being more diverse doesn’t make it more creative, sometimes diversity isn’t cohesive

Eh I think Chromatica just had more labor given to its cohesiveness. They tried REALLY hard for that. That doesn’t make it less creative, just a different approach. Joanne was designed as kind of a scattershot, Chromatica the opposite
