Also, we need to give Pence the nuclear football. I’m not a fan of his homophobia, but I can trust him to not decide to arbitrarily start a nuclear war. [1] Edit: Trump is only in office for 13 more days. But, a 25th amendment invocation takes three weeks to sort out while Trump has no power and Pence is acting president. StrawberryBlond 15,569 Posted January 7, 2021 Share Posted January 7, 2021 Started to hear rumblings of this in the early hours in the UK when I was in my night owl ways but as I've been officially switching off on all things political after 5pm, I didn't catch it as it was going live and was blissfully unaware. Was wondering why GGD was so quiet. Woke up today, looking at the news, photos and footage, couldn't believe I was seeing this with my own eyes. It's always surreal to me when I see this kinda thing happening in a rich, Western, democratic nation and this is the first time I've seen such a thing and to such an extreme level happening in the USA. The sight of windows being smashed, the rotunda being mobbed with protestors, that guy sitting on the House of Representatives chair, the guy hanging off a balcony, politicians barricading themselves behind doors, a man with his feet up at Nancy Pelosi's desk and another guy walking off with her lectern and smiling and waving at the camera as he does it...it's just unfathomable. And now makes me wonder what press was inside recording this. It is now even scarier to hear countries who have a bone to pick with America have leaders who are saying how happy this chaos has made them. Social media needs to permanently ban Trump forever. He needs to be formally removed early for inciting riots. He has blood on his hands after the deaths involved. He should never be allowed to run again. He should have charges brought against him for his never-ending list of wrongdoings. Any form of control and respect should be out of his hands now. And security needs to be ramped up like crazy because this will have only given supporters of these protestors more fuel and you can bet they'll be wanting to try this again when Biden is officially in power, maybe even more so. I would say I'd be tempted to cry over all this devastation but honestly, that's what these hooligans would want. They laugh and rejoice in the idea of the opposition crying, it's viewed as weakness in their eyes. A stiff upper lip is the only way to get through this now. 2021's just begun and it already looks as if it could be just as bad, if not worse. I only hope it's a case of getting worse before it gets any better. Rest assured, America, the UK mostly stands with you.
