It's not just killers in there, people also go to jail for robbing a bank, breaking into houses, scamming, drug dealing, identity theft, money laundering, tax evasion etc etc

Don’t forget the people who go to jail for just having weed on their possessions in some states. :vegas:

the only reason i’d agree to it would be to protect staff ofc but some of these people are in jail for a reason. there’s some BAD people in jail.

Prisoners deserve to get vaccines too. The justice system is bad enough as it is, no reason to make it worse by denying prisoners, many of whom has committed victimless crimes, something as essential as a vaccine.

What does that have anything to do with it? They are in jail not death row. I see no reason to deny them healthcare just like we don't deny them basics like clothing, food and showers

Now I wouldn't exactly put them on a priority list but this is a special circumstance. They needed to find ppl to give the doses to or they'd spoil. Better to give to a non priority group than let them go to waste

Doesn't mean they don't deserve to be vaccinated for a virus??? The way the pandemic spreads in jails is horrifying and they deserve the vaccine just like everyone else tf

There are a lot of not that bad people in prisons with smaller crimes and they are in a crowded place and there are guardians and other workers too. It actually makes sense that prisoners should be a priority

Circling back to the OP, at least this experience shows that we can proceed with urgency with this vaccination campaign when needed. If they were able to be distributed so quickly in an uncontrolled situation, we should also be able to distribute them quickly with a proper schedule as well. The urgency is real, not just because of a freezer malfunction, but because the crisis is absolutely dire.

IMO, vaccination needs to take place quickly all the time, the same way we work around the clock at my company during delivery periods (and that's just for VFX, something really trivial in comparison).

I know people have been quoting you left and right, sorry for adding to that, but I would really recommend reading ARE PRISONS OBSOLETE? by Angela Davis. It’s a very short book and it might give you insight as to why people in jail most definitely deserve the vaccine (and certainly over the staff!).

Actually, part of me wishes every hospital would put it in high gear and get it done this fast. It's the kind of urgency I was hoping to see with the vaccines. At least they used it up and 850 people in that community will live. Good.

ok guys not gonna make this thread about myself so i’ll keep it simple as possible. i’ve realised what i’ve said and that was messy af. i’ll still leave the initial message there so it doesn’t seem like i’m erasing the damage i’ve already started.

after reading all the quotes i’ve received it’s completely changed my mind on the matter. my comment was really gross and doesn’t reflect me as a person at all. i clearly still need to educate myself more on these issues which i’m glad i have been in a way.

thankyou @Economy for responding to my message with maturity, despite how gross i was :/

The fact that you took this site’s lashings as a learning opportunity instead of just going on the defense shows that you’re a good person, just needed to be educated on this particular subject matter. Props to you for being mature about it. Sending love

edit: also, thanks for proving that Cancel Culture is gross and toxic. Imagine if you were a celeb and was “canceled” instead of given the opportunity to grow and learn about this particular issue.

I always wondered what they would do in a situation like this actually

Cuz there are the priority groups that are supposed to get it first and ur not following procedure to give to others... But at the same time... It's literally an ethical crime to let them go to waste so better give them to anyone that will take them than let them spoil

my local grocery store that is giving them, they state that if they have a dose that is close to expiring, they will do a first come first serve to anyone that wants it if they dont waste the dosage
