Flawless 2,234
You guys are always so defensive when someone points out a possible racist behavior, it doesn't looks good tbh. Much better to reflect, and try to understand the reason why the topic is being discussed. Everyone can have a racist attitude without even realizing it. The important thing is to rethink and understand why that is problematic. It looks like that you are more afraid of being called racist than interested in learning and seeking to understand and improve. the scars on my mind are on replay. Why does it have to be racial. I despise rap- but that’s because I prefer symphonies, instrumentation, vocals, etc. It has zero to do with racism. This was definitely a reach. James Bond is mentioned to be white, but being white isn’t important to his character. You tried! I haven't tried anything, don't get too excited. there are certain patterns and traditions that being respected has nothing to do with being racist. I believe that all characters should be played by people who are as close to the original as possible, no matter if it is African, British or Greek culture ... and james bond is very much embedded in British culture that was once dominated by white people. Black Panther’s character literally revolves around his black African roots, did you think before writing that comment? Did you just think it was clever? calm down little boy. I just reversed the stupid conclusion that the fictional character does not have to be faithful to the original.

He's a rapper who composes all of his music and provides vocals as well as rap. NF also has some amazing symphonies, instrumentations and vocals. You really think so? Gays constantly discrediting trap, R&B, hip hop is definitely coming from something more complex than just not liking the genres. As a matter of fact, I personally don’t enjoy R&B nor listen to a lot of trap for example, but I don’t plaster everywhere how much the genres suck, asking why it’s so popular as if it’s something hard to understand for some reason, saying things like the US chart sucks because urban genres dominate there. I’m not saying people can’t dislike it, it’s the way they express that dislike constantly, the way it’s expressed, that comes off strangely. OP said he wondered why urban music was so popular. Generalizing all urban music ofc, and stating it as if it’s hard to comprehend it could be popular. Tell me how that doesn’t come off weird, please do. Gays in forums sh*tting on urban genres is so exhausting and definitely rooted in something more. Yeah maybe talking about not liking that genre every single time while also expressing their same opinions on black artists might be suspect but what if that person just doesn't like the genre? You are also labeling every gay person to hate on the genre when that most likely is not the case with some people on here. I'm a straight male person, does that mean that I should hate Gaga? We should stop jumping into conclusion straight away because honestly, the word "racist" is throwed way too many times nowadays for things that might not even be racist at all which is problematic on itself because its kinda losing its meaning. Lol yeah, people here get so jumpy when these topics get brought up, start to bring in other examples to validate their opinions like movie roles, and then try to gaslight and call you pedantic for bringing things up, because god forbid we have these conversations in a site where many many users like to make snide racist remarks, or just straightforward ones. But then one is the pedantic and annoying one. I guess it was a bad idea to bring this up in GagaDaily, it never goes anywhere.

Yes I mentioned that in my comment. It’s not about disliking it but the way it’s expressed, which is why I quoted that comment specifically. And yes maybe I shouldn’t have generalized all gay people or that all people here are gay. Thank you for giving an understanding response btw, instead of just dismissing what I said. And I’ll stop here, these conversations on here are often fruitless

There's a reason why it's being brought up. If the folks who were so worried about being labeled as a racist or "why everything is about race" think a little more outside their bubble, they could see why the comment can be interpreted as problematic. Perhaps the member did not even have that intention, but that is precisely why it is important that certain things are contested and rethought. the scars on my mind are on replay.
