The Purpose pop star, who has credited Hillsong Church for pulling him out of his most 'dark' times, is reportedly interested in taking a leadership role at the church following the controversial exit of pastor/former mentor Carl Lentz, 42.

Following Lentz's exit for what the church called 'leadership issues and breaches of trust, plus a recent revelation of moral failures' in November, Bieber, 26, 'believes he can take a leadership position in restoring order,' according to insiders.

Justin's doesn't plan on his new spiritual role taking him away from music.

And that’s why I used “if”... Really not that serious  Also this didn’t surprise me and it wouldn’t surprise me if he actually did this. It seems to me that God is big part of his life right now and this is a logical way to go.

One thing is believing in God and being religious, which is absolutely fine, but another completely different thing is willingly choosing to be not only part, but being the rumored leader of, a Christian church famously involved in homophobic and overall hateful rhetoric. I'm aware religion can help you get through dark times whatever your denomination/set of beliefs may be, but this is still fishy, and still something that one may want to look up before deciding to further promote projects like this one.
