I don’t see how congressmen from Trump states objecting their electoral votes are going to benefit them. This is all charades anyways, McConnell has made it clear that the senate will confirm Biden (even if there are a few Republican outliers) and republicans couldn’t do anything if they tried. Invalidating a states electoral votes requires a 2/3 majority in both chambers of congress which would be impossible. No, any member of Congress can object to any electoral votes from any state. In 2017 there were attempts made by a rep from Washington (I believe it was her) to challenge Florida's votes. The second part of this also represents a misunderstanding of the rules. There is no such 2/3 requirement in the case of an electoral objection. A majority of votes in both chambers will sustain the objection. The most recent example of this was in 2005 (so like I said in the OP, not really that recent), but the objection was not sustained (not even close) Don't Call Me Gaga

If Trump claiming there are irregularities and trying to get Democratic electors disqualified means he is undermining democracy, wouldn't it stand to reason that Reps. Raskin, Jayapal, and Waters were undermining democracy by suggesting irregularities and trying to get Republican electors disqualified? Neither the house or senate would vote majority to throw out any EV (Dems control the house and the majority of congress GOP wont vote for it either). Then again the entire EC system needs to be thrown out.
