Republican Congressman-elect of Louisiana, Luke Letlow, has died from complications due to COVID-19 just 11 days after he announced his diagnosis. He was supposed to be sworn in this upcoming Sunday and leaves behind his wife and 2 small children. He was only 41 years old.

He was notoriously anti-mask and celebrated his victory at an indoor venue where no one was wearing a mask. He stated that, "We have to make sure our economy gets open...we have to learn to live in a COVID world" just weeks before his passing.

Wear a mask people. This isn't a joke nor has it ever been.

My thoughts go out to his family, it’s so sad that his rhetoric led to a fateful end, but we may never hear of the countless deaths his negligence has surely unleashed.

The constitutional crisis people from his side would create if this were to happen to an elected Dem rep. I'm sorry for his family but this was always a very possible outcome of the rethoric he adopted.

Former First Lady of the United States. Now card-carrying member of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

It’s so very hard to feel sad for someone who fought for the idea that this virus was nothing to worry about. A virus that has ripped life as we know it from our overworked poor hands and one that has killed hundreds of thousands of people. A virus that ultimately took his very own life. But WE CAN DO HARD THINGS! We give our condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time. We must keep on fighting for what is right and for this country that so many in the world can only dream of.

Whatever his beliefs are this man probably had mother, father, sister, brother, wife, kids, whatever.. Being happy about his death and reacting with “paws up” or “yasss” is just wrong. My thoughts are with his family.

Hope this will open the eyes of his surviving families that this thing is very real and they need to follow safety protocols cos it's important. R.I.P.

Although he (and mostly, others around him who were just as careless) should of practiced better with the very blatant situation, "yassing" ones death for the dumbest reasons like a political view disagreement is stooping to a extremely low level and childish.

My brain couldn't stop reading this as "president elect" and I kept having mini heart attacks :saladga:

dont get me wrong, I have sympathy for him, but this is just mind boggling. Republicans have turned the anti mask movement into this “pro economy” movement when in reality you can be both pro economy and pro mask. It’s not hard to go support local businesses and restaurants (ordering takeout of course)  while wearing a mask.

Just our daily dose of news that COVID-19 doesn't play politics and we all need to do our part. Share with those Republican friends/family/associates.
