Is Sour Candy really single worthy?

Gagas lil monster

I personally could care less for the song, and I see it as an opportunity for the US music industry to cash in on the K-pop train. First Halsey, Gaga, and then Selena. It’s not the pop girl’s faults, but the stupid labels.

As a fan of both, it sounds like neither. Big ol letdown upon first listen, but now I think it's endearing and never listen to it.

Yes, it’s absolutely single worthy in so many ways. However, I really feel like this ship has sailed. It should’ve been a real single like a month after the album was released. All of those streams and all the hype and stuff was well worth it to push this song as a single. But now, I kind of don’t think it would be worth too much of an investment.

At this point, IF she wants to keep pushing singles she needs to make one of the songs a remix or something with a rapper because this album has had a long time to create buzz and a lot of time has been wasted.

And if there really is a new single from Chromatica, it’s probably just gonna be a G.U.Y. situation (great visuals, maybe a performance or two, but it’ll bomb on the charts), where it’s kind of just for the fans. Oh wait.... this was already 911. :poot:

911 wasn’t a single though except for Italy and it did well there

It's a fine song, but I would've literally preferred any other song on the album to get new visuals than SC. SC had it's time. They promoted it before, had merch for it, and even released a lyric video. I really don't understand why they'd want to revive it instead of doing something brand new.

Also, I think for Chromatica, we should stop talking about which songs are "single worthy" in terms of commercial performance. I think it's very clear that at this point, Gaga and her team don't really care about the commercial success of their singles for Chromatica. If they did, they would've done a lot more for 911, which had a lot of potential as well. If SC does get a MV, it'll just be something for the fans, and if it catches on with the GP, then great.

without needing to read the whole thread the answer is YES. It is instantly catchy for the gp, the views will be the highest we'll ever get in a mv and it will boost the overall album streams unlike any other song choice while the pandemic is still happening and she cannot perform it a million times like MR.:awkney:

Alice is right there waiting to smash!

omg Alice is my favorite song ever made! I ****ing love it... so much.... this needs to be a single and it´s screaming for a music video too.... (and it´s the first song on the record and these usually tend to be put out as singles)

I also hope for Babylon and last but not least "Free Woman" - Gaga herself said she wanted to call the whole record free woman, so this indicates for me that she´ll put free woman out as a single! (hopefully)

Hyperballad

I think people are overestimating how well it’ll do tbh. With how little promo Gaga does, I’d expect a chart run of #Top 7 debut - drop to #10-15 and then a free fall :laughga:

Magic Mike

I just think Gaga should release an entire new album like D.Peep./Taylor Shift and try again for the post covid-era. Either Sour Candy or other songs would flop as Chromatica is over

sorry

I feel like sour candy is much more GP friendly than a lot of the other songs because it’s rap-singing which is in right now. But who knows.

also the sour candy hate on this site is weird bc I feel like a lot of people did like the song outside ggd

It doesn’t really matter though when the artist behind the album acts like she isn’t passionate about her music anymore
