Is Sour Candy really single worthy?

Okay before I begin let me say this: I like Sour Candy... I just don't love it.

Now that that's off the table let me continue. I know most of you love Sour Candy and are glad that it has practically been guaranteed to be the next single but do any of you wish it wasn't? I feel like having 2 of the singles as collabs isn't great (sales purpouses aside). I feel like maybe it should be Replay or Babylon instead. Does anyone else agree?

BUTTTTTT let's be clear I'm okay with Sour Candy and if that's the next single it's better than nothing at all. This is just my opinion so let's keep it respectful but I'd love to hear your opinion :vegas:

Sour candy is literally one of the better songs on chromatica the way gaga comes in halfway to end all pop bitches in the chorus.                 200.gif

The way the beat SWELLS on blackpink’s parts like you’re going through a disco conduit 200.gif

The song is flirty and fierce and not generic about failed attempts at “coming out of this alive” “i’m not having fun tonight” “lifting me up, flying like a thousand doves”

IMO i dont think any song of chromatica could be a hit besides ROM.

I like SC, but same i just dont love it.

I dont think is a problem to release another collab as single, i think gaga is in a place in the industry where she can do whatever she wants.

Quizás bastaba respirar, sólo respirar, muy lento...💙

It is... I guess

the problem with it is that it doesnt sound like a Gaga song... it feels more like Blackpink ft Gaga.... i mean it doesnt even start with Gaga’s voice

thats why i’m not excited for it being a single at all

its a single material .. considering how big BLACKPINK is .. its goin to boost the sales pretty big :)

BUT .. i think its kinda late lol the anticipation is ruined and considering how short the song is and people prefer that song longer because it seems unfinished i think they can relaunch the era with a longer version of sour candy haha

Sour Candy is so catchy and I think a music video would be cute. I'm honestly here for it because I love the song as much as day 1.

I would be really disappointed if she didn't do more with it.

It is THE single of the album. Made to smash. Made to end careers. Made to bring back a POP MUSIC REVIVAL.

But they’re not giving ha what she deserves :oprah:

If we want it to be a hit, then yes, because of The Blinks. Also, Gaga going Kpop is very intriguing. I dont love it too, but i like it. What's sure i think at this point is a performance with Gaga next year, but i do hope Gaga gives it a chance as a proper single for the fans...and also for BP to give them More exposure in the US and elsewhere.

I can't see this catching on at all. If it is a single, I really hope I'm wrong though.

Also the absolute hilarity in saying this should be a single because Blinks would help it be a hit. Is this the era of relying on more popular artists to get more streams?

i agree with OP, it's my least-played song on the album. it just feels so safe/uninspired/not catchy?? I feel like this could literally be any popstar's song. there's nothing "Gaga" about it.

the instrumental has been sampled up the cahooey (and it bugs me that it was most recently used on Ms Perry's Swish Swish), Gaga doesn't even come in until over a minute into the song, and even then, it feels like she's a feature on her own song. The chorus makes no sense – "I'm hard on the outside/But if you give me time/Then I could make time for your love" – I know pop songs aren't generally known for their lyrics, but what? It feels exceptionally lazy for an artist 12 years into her career, and it doesn't have the catchiness of a song like Baby One More Time to compensate.

Not to mention it's the shortest song on the album, over before you know it. I truly forget it's on there sometimes, it has so little substance.

So, no, it's not single worthy. The only reason it has so many views is because of Blackpink. No way it would've done that well if it was just Gaga. I think fans are clamoring for it because it invokes her original TF sound, but that's the main problem for me – it sounds like a parody of herself, and a poorly done parody at that.

(also, I love Chromatica, I think it gets a bad rap from fans on this site because the era itself has been so uneventful, but Sour Candy is just not it)
