The private sector has a lot of flaws but due to the drive of profit and financial gains they scrutinize efficiency and take a much harder look at what's necessary for operations than State Enterprises tend to do. That's why companies like Canada Post or Tap airline in Portugal despite essentially having a large monopoly still managed to always loose money and need to be subsidized by tax payers. 

 

If the government ran every company and decided how to allocate resources in just about everything basic on current track records it would be a disaster

 

That's why I'm saying for heavy socialism or even communism to work you need a government that is efficient and competent...

 

If you can get that, then you have the economic efficiencies of capitalism without the downsides of exploitation, abuse and inequality. But governments would need to get better at resource management cuz as a general rule they've tended to always suck at that

Your talking about regressive distribution of wealth and regressive taxation which is a totally seperate thing to what I was talking about. I was talking about economic systems and means of production and resource alocation. A system can be capitalist without having that kind of tax structure. It's a totally seperate thing to the issue we were discussing

 

I don't disagree that those things u brought up are a problem btw and we've discussed them before. I'm just saying they aren't what define a system. The US for example has been capitalist for a very long time now but didn't have issues with regressive taxes till last few decades in fact it was quite progressive but it doesn't mean the US wasn't capitalist. How progressive or regressive a tax system is doesn't really define the type of economy at its core. Those are more superficial policies that come and go and get changed as parties and leader change, they aren't part of the macro-economic foundational system at its root

They are a country that has their own set of morals and rules which are mostly incompatible with those of the US, and Western society at large. Being "fair" and treating them using our own system is simply not going to work. You need to fight fire with fire. But with today's SJW's, it's not going to happen without complaining. Long ago I would have probably been ok with that because it is natural for nations to rise and others to fall etc...it's part of history BUT now that I know that China is a nation that literally commits genocide and is doing that as we speak I am extremely scared about what the rise of China will mean for the rest of the world.

China's growth has been rapid and accelerating. This shouldn't be a surprise as it is inevitable. As of now, China has already taken over the Fashion-Luxury Market and it is the reason why some of the biggest fashion brands are surviving during the pandemic.

Something nobody is taking into consideration is the demographics of China. China is set to drop below 1 billion ppl by 2100 and the shrinking population will start this decade. Without immigration their workforce will shrink and hinder their economy since they’ll have too many old people to look after. Unless the government does something crazy like kill off the old ppl or force people to have 2-4 kids each it’s downhill for China. It doesn’t help that China is very xenophobic and racist and doesn’t want immigrants, not that China is an attractive immigrant destination anyways

One of my acquaintances once visited China and he shared with me an weird experience. There was a little shop in front of the hotel he was staying in. A guy used to run it. There was a small scuffle in the shop one late night, apparently with some officials. The next morning the shop and the guy were gone. By gone, I mean that there was not a sign that would tell you there was a structure of a shop there only the previous night.

I’m not that worried, honestly.

I think it’s unlikely that China will meddle too much in other countries’ affairs or invade them like the west has always done. From what I know, they have fought very few wars in comparsion with western nations. Most of their issues seem to be internal. The only difference is that dictatorships around the world will feel more comfortable now that the major power is also a dictatorship (albeit a very peculiar one).

There's not many Countries in recent history that are true definitions of communism. Most just have traits or a few aspects of it. Cuba is one of the few I can think of that is actually communist
