Gaga to play Bayonetta in movie adaptation

"She’s been referenced in connection with the role ever since the first game hit shelves in 2009 and certainly has the moves and style to bring Bayonetta to live-action. And let’s not forget she’s also an Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winning actor. Not only that, but insider Daniel Richtman is reporting this week that she’s in talks to officially take on the part.

Working in her favor is that she’s already a huge fan of the games. She was playing through the series in 2018 and tweeted her progress, saying:

“Still playing #Bayonetta middle of chapter XIII and my hands hurt and I have to sleep and it’s 4 In the damn morning but this damn dragon with the face that I have to kill with my weave. Smh.”

Gaga also appeared to reference the character in her music video for “Rain on Me” earlier this year. In the collaboration with Ariana Grande, the two stars whip their hair about in a way that many compared to Bayonetta, with Gaga’s beehive hairdo a clear nod to the heroine.

It remains to be seen whether any movie adaptation would tone down Bayonetta‘s full-on silliness, but I’m hoping they embrace it. If you’re interested as to what this might be like, there’s already Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, a 2013 anime film that was described as “even more over-the-top than the game was.”

Hmm...most video game movie adaptations suck. Even Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie wasn’t that good. She best be careful but then again I think this is only a rumour and nothing else

Bayonetta is a really niche series. I doubt any movie's gonna be made from it soon. 

Also the 3rd game has been stuck in development hell for years. Trailer announced in 2017, still no update. 

I'd rather she did something for the game - like voicing a character or doing a song.

Battle Angel Alita is also a very niche manga and got a movie with James Cameron (and I hope gets a sequell because it truly deserves it!).

It's not in development hell

It's just in development 

They just announced it when it was still in the pre production stages because they needed hype for the switch. 

They shouldn't have tho but as an example MH Rise has been in development since BEFORE the switch was even announced. So it will just take the time that it will take

Tbh. She also has music in her career so she doesn't have to stress about gaps in movies and having to take whatever is available or whatever

 

She should try to stick to major movies or movies of good quality. Not sure about something like this

This is definitely true and I have no doubt that a Bayonetta movie would be no exception.

But even so... it would still be pretty fun to see Gaga in a big budget full on Bayonetta costume doing stunts and whatever
