If you ask me these are toxic consumers who contributed to the phenomenon reported in the article. Like, if you have an attention span problem, fix it. Don't let it exacerbate. Pennywise 36,080
I can't take a person seriously if they honestly don't have the attention span to listen to a song just because it's too long. Like, y'all wanna be babies that much? So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.
Oriane 22,861
Songs of any length can be good, it all depends on the structure and vibe, some songs don't need to be long, and others shouldn't be short. A lot of the early songs from The Beatles were around 2 minutes as well, and it fit the songs. The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic! Yeah, folklore or Lana del Rey's songs are 4-5 minutes long, yet you've witnessed how Chromatica got shorter songs and y'all know the reason, so stop saying "laughs in x" Scheisse. It's a shame, but the sources provided in the OP say the truth. If the average is under 2 minutes, then it means we're going to get as many songs that last 4-5 minutes as songs that last 30 seconds The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic! WhiteWitch 720
It’s not necessarily the length of the song that does it for me, it’s the beats that tend to be popular in today’s “hot tracks” that tend to be a lot fore to handle. If a song is great I won’t skip it after two minutes lol. Sometimes songs lose focus themselves too. So this could be a good and bad thing at the same time. CCSir 410
It's a bit of a restrictive rule, but I do think sometimes songs can be really effective when they leave you wanting more. That's what makes you hit replay. Example:

That can't be achieved in 120 seconds 3-4 is perfect run time for songs End Racism Now
Better Day 5,766
It really depends on the song tbh. Some songs that are 5/6 minutes can be very tedious and boring - Frozen, God Control, Hair whereas some songs can be too short - Babylon, Stupid Love. Artists should go with their vision Together You And I!

I feel like Bad Romance drags on too long. But honestly, songs like Sour Candy are just way too short. End Racism Now

voidfigure 1,612
One of the songs produced as a single in Xfactor2020 (Italy) was 1:58 long 😅 and I don't mean the short versions they are obligated to play in the live shows, I mean the actual one sent to radios
Johan Colli 230
Tierra Whack made a 15 track album of 1 minute songs and it slaps. If an artist wants to make quality work they will do it regardless of the length
