I thought I was one of the few. I guess to put it more specifically, her music is growing on me, but I can not relate to her outlook on the reality of the world we live in (although I've become that way with Gaga as well I guess, and it doesn't make me like her music any less) i feel like this site reaallly turned on her when Billie made the meat dress comment. but i'm in the same boat! i did NOT like her when she first debuted, but she's grown on me tremendously. there's still a lot about her music that kinda bugs me (I feel like her voice is stronger than she lets on), but she's definitely one of the more interesting acts to pop out of the last 4-5 years
Grim 2,231
Daughters - At first I thought the songs were boring, just full of yelling and nothing musically interesting. This year I gave them another chance and fell in love, the emotions are so raw and they actually do interesting artsy stuff. So aggressive, so artsy, so good! Grimes - It's not like I didn't like her music at first, but I got introduced to her music by We Appreciate Power and was disappointed that it wasn't what her music actually sounds like. Now I love all of her albums and I'm actually listening to Halfaxa right now I'm probably wrong
mattbri 1,369
Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus. The pandemic helped to like them more.
JohnnyVersace 9,023
I 100% agree with Taylor and Ariana! I had just moved to NYC when Welcome to New York came out and I was.....hooked Although, I was a huge Kanye fan up until recently and I never once sided with her about the scandal. So while I appreciated her music through 1989 and Reputation, I didn't respect her until Lover when she broke her silence on politics. Although it was FAR too late in career having said nothing for a decade (and tbh it felt like she just discovered gay people and drag queens existed in 2019 ), I finally grew to respect her as an artist, an advocate and as a smart, strong, powerful woman. Folklore and Evermore are kind of a snooze for me, but I'm definitely a fan. I slowly was becoming a fan with One Last Time, Love Me Harder, etc., but I stanned Ari the second Dangerous Woman came out. I LIVE for a slut era, and her serving oversexed pinup latex fantasy really did it for me Sweetener as an album was good, with very strong singles and a bit of filler. But TUN truly spoke to my S O U L as I was going through a really tough breakup. And Positions has grown on me to become a top album as well. Watching the Netflix special last night, and seeing how diverse her crew is, and how she naturally incorporates queer people, art, culture and references into her work without making it so overtly obvious and cringey is another reason I stan. She's not forced at all, and I love that she just does whatever the **** she wants and likes, while advocating for causes that are important to me as well in a very natural and personal way. LaLuna 12,732
The only one that comes to mind for me is Lana Del Rey. I really didn't get the hype when she first came out in but then I heard Summertime Sadness and I fell in love
Yxilon 5,248
Halsey. I used to think she was very bland and overrated until Manic came out. It's an amazing album. Some songs are just perfectly written, composed and produced. Everything could be everything (it could mean anything)

There are good songs on that album that aren't singles. New love is one of them.
Layton 895
Blackpink and Twice (More & More was my most played song of 2020) I never disliked them specifically but K-Pop in general. Then I started listening to their songs at the beginning of this year.
Eighteen 5,430
lady gaga way back when. i didn't become a fan until just before the born this way video was being released (i remember i forgot the born this way video was coming out and got to it 2 weeks after its release) and i pretty much became a superfan during ARTPOP, my favorite gaga album and era . i remember applause leaking and messaging people on twitter and tumblr trying to get a soundbite edit: more recently, i started liking dynamite by BTS. i was into kpop in 2009/2010 and i pretty much thought that my taste for it died back then. but then they play that BTS song on a commercial in the USA and i was like... i kinda like this actually but it's just one song so idk if the artist really "grew on me," more like one song. just like with ariana grande, i don't know most of her music, but i really liked thank u, next the first time i heard it and actually watch live performances of it. OH, i just remembered a good (more recent than gaga) example of an artist that grew on me: RIHANNA. rihanna was pretty whatever to me (i liked a song here and there since her debut, like.. i liked umbrella in HS and i liked stay and.... diamonds) but with the album anti, i like several songs from that album and work is my JAM, and i'm kinda excited to see what she puts out next. I've tried for a while with Bjork, she seems like my kind of artist, but I can't help finding her music unpleasant whenever I give it a go Which songs do you recommend for a newbie to ease in? Listen I truly can't give you a clear answer because honestly I could not stand anything I heard from her at first... like anything... and i truly thought her voice was grating and obnoxious. but then i slowly started appreciating the songs all of a sudden and for some reason it magically made everything else click eventually?? and now i think she's made the best music of all time???? and her voice is actually out of this world??? idk stanning bjork is WEIRD. So many songs which i despise at the beginning are now my favorites. I'll give you the songs that I am positive i liked on the very first listen, so that i know i'm not being biased: pagan poetry (a literal masterpiece... cannot be described with words), unison (the bridge.........), unravel (one of her most accessible songs because the emotion is so raw and the melody so easy to infiltrate your heart). And for me what made me really appreciate the songs more was knowing that she herself has written not only the lyrics but the music and arrangements for them, and produced most of them herself. Other songs to try if you like these ones: Hyperballad (widely considered to be her best) Play dead (accessible movie song) All is full of love, mark bell version (dreamy and the message is beautiful) chaeri pls
