I'll copy paste a translation of an article tacking the incident, but keep in mind that media in Belgium are funded by police-supporting entities.

The mayor and the chief of the Waterloo police force do not comment on the facts, but regret the incriminating videos posted on Facebook, without any contextualization. For her part, the mother of the family once again denounces the "disproportionate" behaviour of the police officers on social networks.

The police intervention in a Waterloo home on Friday night made a big splash on social networks. On the videos and photos that circulated very quickly on the web, we see police officers intervening in numbers following a Covid offence, before the situation got out of hand. And that blows were dealt on both sides.

The police and the mayor of Waterloo (administrative head of the police) did not comment on the case in question: "The investigation is under way, it's up to the public prosecutor to speak up. But we confirm that the police intervention for a Covid offence was justified and that it was carried out under warrant".

On the other hand, the lack of hindsight on social networks was pointed out. "Videos are thrown on Facebook without any hindsight on what happened, without any context being stated and without delivering a double version of the facts," explain Michel Vandewalle and Florence Reuter. Testimony against the accused without any duty of reserve being retained. However, until proof to the contrary, it will be up to the courts to decide what action, if any, should be taken".

The owners of the premises and their eldest daughter are summoned to appear before the Nivelles court on 25 January. For rebellion, unarmed in a gang, voluntary assault and battery on three police officers in the exercise of their duties and breach of Covid measures. They have already announced their willingness to lodge a complaint against the police officers for assault and battery and abuse of power. They are being defended by the Brussels lawyer Abdelhadi Amrani.

"I haven't slept for 3 days".

On social networks, Valérie, the mother whose nose was broken, once again gave her version of the facts, pointing out the behaviour of the "Waterloo cowboys" as she calls them. She denounced the "disproportionate" nature of the intervention "for 3 teenagers". She recounts how her three children witnessed the whole scene. "Our 13 year old daughter yelled at her brother and sister who were inside: 'They are killing the parents!

"Our 19-year-old eldest daughter came out and told them they were crazy, that they were choking me (which is true, that was the first moment I lost consciousness). She wanted to come close to me and was violently caught with both arms behind her back and lifted off the ground for more than 10 metres. My 16 year old son didn't calculate when he saw the scene, he jumped on the policeman and was immediately tackled on the ground and handcuffed. That's when I fainted from strangulation the second time," continues Valérie.

She also explains that the police officers slammed his head against his car several times. "The shocks were so violent that the car's headlight came out of the bonnet," she writes. "I had blood all over my face, my hair stuck to my skin and prevented me from breathing, I begged them to take it off, they laughed at me and turned the handcuffs a little more behind my back to hurt me! It was cold, I was wearing a little jumper, I asked them more than ten times to give me my scarf that was in my kitchen, in vain! "

Three days later, Valérie says she is still traumatised by the operation. "I haven't slept for 3 days, I can't stop crying, my children are shocked and my youngest daughter is completely withdrawn, she doesn't talk about what happened, I think the psychological damage is more than serious", she concludes.
