Wouldn't u still see it then but just in the form of reducing ur taxes?

Either way that's stupid if they can see it wasn't generated for u and have the information why don't they just send it :saladga:

The idea behind the stimulus is to help during the pandemic.... i could have really used that money to help pay for things instead of having to sacrifice my credit score and not pay certain bills on time, it wouldn’t have been spent on superfluous things. I had everything budgeted accordingly when the $1200 was announced, and it never happened. Had I received it; my 2020 debt for taxes would be non existent and I could collect my refund. But not anymore.

Better Day

I can’t believe the US government isn’t even doing a furlough scheme. What a joke

Ok then that doesn't sound that terrible if EI is being increased by that much

The comments are all going on about the $600 like that is ALL people are getting

I get the Government was slow and ppl are rightfully upset they didn't prioritize the people as much as they should have but it doesn't mean you should be misleading either :enigma:

Here in Canada there was programs and benefits that were enhanced but one time bonus payments were also not particularly large. Like seniors got a one time $300 bonus, parents a $200 bonus per child on 2 occasions (and one was actually from Province not Federal Government) and I believe people with disabilities also got a one time bonus that wasn't huge

Other than that it was mainly enhancements

I think it’s still pretty awful. 600 dollars doesn’t even begin to cover even half my rent, I wasn’t even affected by the pandemic but I still think this is a slap in the face to MANY AMERICANS who are months behind on their rent and are barely affording to live right now

I think it's awful if that's all ur getting but my understanding is that this is a bonus and that the enhanced EI is the main form of support not the EI?

I dunno like I said here in Canada our one time payment bonuses weren't any larger (they were smaller in fact) but they weren't the only support that was available.

For example our EI system also went thru modifications. Thru CERB ppl that normally wouldn't qualify for EI got it and it was also enhanced with a higher amount than EI would normally pay out

So support was there. But the bonuses were not the main factor. If u looked at our bonuses us think we were doing nothing

That's why I'm asking to what extent is that just a side thing and what else is being done?

Franch Toast

$600 is nothing*, and there are people who are struggling who aren't on unemployment for various reasons (for example, my sister lost her job, and her employer is still contesting her unemployment, plus think about small business owners, especially in industries that have been shuttered such as bars, dining, cinema, etc.).

*Yes, I am aware that $600 is still a lot for some people, and it might be the difference between their kids having Christmas presents or not, but in the big picture, it's a joke.

So when are we getting the $600?

Checks should deposit beginning first week of January. UI benefits mid to late January.

Really :oprah:. When people have lost their jobs or people’s incomes are cut and slashed because of shutdowns and sickness. $600 really is a joke

I think you misunderstood. I’m not saying it in a way like “it’s better than zero so you better not complain.” I said it more in a way of it being the absolute bare minimum they could give us Americans.
