And if someone can learn from them and grow then they don’t deserve to be condemned for them. I believe Pete is that kind of person, maybe you don’t and that is fine. We can agree to disagree and still be a part of a coalition that will bring needed change. I dont advocate to be part of a coalition unwilling to put pressure on democrats to do the right thing. The house wont even bring to the floor a vote to give people healthcare during a pandemic where 300K people have died because democrats in the house are bought and paid for to not do it. I want nothing to do with people who think that s okay because "mistakes happen."

The buck stops somewhere and in mayoral politics it stops with the mayor. He gets credit for the good and the blame for the bad. I definitely don’t like that he allowed those shirts to be sold that said “Breathe Easy” and I definitely think he should’ve taken more action to support his African American constituents. And like I said before I think he knows that too, I think he knows in some part that he failed them. But I don’t think he did so on purpose, obviously we can disagree there. But no I don’t think he’s racist in anyway. I think he just needed to deal with issues like that little bit more head on. And maybe being in a position in the federal government will help him learn stuff like that. SOT typically requires a lot of face to face travel across the country to various states/cities/towns so maybe he will really start to see some of these communities and hopefully realize what he would need to change if he ever wanted to run for President again because obviously it wasn’t working for everybody. And I agree that it should. Not just one type of person. But I think he wants that. I think Pete wants to achieve that equality. But I also think people in here thinking that he blamed the death of a young child on the child darting across the street is COMPLETEY a mischaracterization of what he said...all he said was that he didn’t know if having a light at that area would’ve changed anything as previous data showed it wasn’t necessary in the first place...like I said..blame him if you want. But again, I don’t think he purposefully removed traffic lights so that children would die and he could blame that. It was an obvious unforeseeable circumstance, accidents happen all the time. I’m not condoning it, I’m just bringing up another point.

Thanks for confirming that you dont support healthCARE (not to be confused with insurance) as a humam right and that you dont believe Americans are entitled to healthcare in a deadly pandemic that isnt their fault. Yes that makes you a monster in my view. LOL sis I never had a meltdown about communism coming into America I alluded to the idea that he's a communist like 10 months ago after enduring months of being bullied and harassed here by the can't-react-rose-twitter club. And I'm staunchly a progressive tyvm (and no I don't need your validation either). Calling Bernie a "communist" is about as fair as calling Pete a "rat" (which countless users do every Pete Buttigieg thread). Both are unproductive and mean. But yes please lecture me on how I don't have a clue what I'm talking about. Continue ignoring the fact that Pete supporters are being bullied in this thread and being called monsters. Pop off sis give us nothing... 59 minutes ago, HorusRa2 said: What you call an opinion is what I call the right thing to do. This post should be a case study on why modern leftists will never accomplish anything, jfc. For the record, I do believe that every American (and human) should have uninterrupted access to healthcare. Healthcare should be a human right. But there's more than one way to achieve that... But the "my way or the highway/YOU'RE A MONSTER!!!11111" approach is why Bernie has never passed a major piece of legislation ever.

IF you wanted to discuss whether we should do single payer a la Norway vs Australia or argue which version of M4A is best (house or senate bill) that would be one thing. But we are always stuck on the, "but we have to do this incrementally or do the public option. But republicans will vote against it anyway!" argument that we never go into the part of policy where I *would* compromise or be willing to listen to a different perspective.
