Black support isn't identity politics LMAO. You NEED black support in the Democratic Party. Who cares if officials supported him? The voters is what matters. When will y'all learn?

When I say identity politics I'm talking about weaponizing his homosexuality to claim anyone who doesn't support him and his horrible policies is homophobic. Or being so delusional to the point you support him no matter what he says or does just because he's gay and "represents" you.

I literally read every post on this website about Pete, and can honestly say I've never seen anyone call someone else homophobic for not supporting Pete. Projecting much?

It's in fact quite the opposite. Usually it's people screaming 'he doesn't represent us' or something to that effect.

You swearing Pete would win with 0% black support :lmao:

You claiming that leftist policies would turn out young people and get Bernie elected :laughga:

When in fact, even with healthcare being the top issue, it didn't...

At least PB knew when to call it quits :ohwell:

You haven’t read enough.

Ooh you got me!

That’s why Dems lost House seats and the Senate is up for grabs. What a win!

How someone can support and fight for a candidate with ZERO black support in the DEMOCRATIC PARTY is BEYOND ME.

It’s insanity.

I don't think America would get that anytime soon tbh regardless of who was in power. Too politically difficult. The Democrats don't have that level of control or majority in the house or Senate to overwhelmingly pass the ideas seen as most "radical" especially when u consider even many Democrats are not on board with it

If it ever happens it's not gonna be in the next couple terms

Healthcare is complicated. Even Canada that has overwhelming support from most of the population for Universal Healthcare continues to not move to fully Universal System like in some European Countries and continuing to keep some segments private cuz once they exist it's hard to change it cuz of the lobbiest pushback :madge:

What I do hope for in America is increased coverage in Medicaid or more regulations preventing price gauging in certain costs. Stuff like that I think is more achievable in the short term

To make a complete system change tho to universal ud need a President that is really into the idea (like Bernie or AOC) and they would have to be elected at the same time that Democrats have a strong majority in both the house and Senate, and to top that off you would need a movement managing to convince most Democrats of it since many Democrats now are not even on board for it yet

So Pete joining or Biden being President isn't whats stopping it. Had someone like Bernie won it still wouldn't have happened anytime soon

I have the same understanding of American politics, I think. It's just that Biden elevating this guy puts more power behind that coalition now. In an alternate universe where Bernie convinced black voters to come out in force for him, we'd see the party shift to his politics quickly. Or even if Warren had managed to bring her coalition out, we'd see more politicians embrace M4A. I just see this cabinet appointment as moving in the wrong direction. Pushing it further out than it could've been. Mostly because Pete seems like a big threat in another presidential primary. People really love him and he has that soaring rhetoric white people love. lol

Meanwhile he had more black support than Harris or Booker the two candidates of color. But you are right he wouldn't have won the primaries without black support that's why he left after South Carolina instead of running a bitter losing campaign until the very end like other people who also didn't have enough black support.

When did either of us ever say that he would’ve won the presidency, much less any more of the primaries.
Lmao Lol GIF by reactionseditor

Like duh we know he didn’t have enough support in general, hence him dropping out.

Accurately reflecting on valid points isn’t their strong suit

I’m sorry do you have anything to add here?

I think that’s rich that you say I can’t accurately reflect a valid point when I don’t think you’ve reflected on a single post you’ve made in this thread.

Either join in the intellectual conversation and add something here or kindly leave. I don’t appreciate the condescending response. You can say you don’t agree with my political view but don’t tell me I can’t “accurately reflect a valid point” when I type paragraphs of actual **** that people still haven’t responded to.

People are pissed he fired an African American police chief who was federally breaking wire tapping laws? Tell me, if this chief was white and was ILLEGALLY taping his African American officers would you be okay with that? Something tells me no....

No proof jus words. The comment I quoted actually debunks all those things you just said. And I like you, I don't want a fight.

Bernie was the Chair of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee while the VA crashed and burned, and it is the one fully SOCIALIST program the US has. Yeah Bernie has great ideas but making them function is not one of his strengths. That's why I backed Warren, not because she wasn't as far left but because she actually makes things happen. If she was farther left or right I would have still backed her.

You are ignoring Bernies accomplishments in the house as he got more amendments passed than anybody.

As for the VA, its more complicated than youre making it out to be and social security and Medicare are also socialist programs as well as many other government services. Stop being disingenuous because youre infatuated by Pete.

Um... why are people arguing about whether Pete’s qualified or good enough to make his role count? He’s clearly not. Its clearly his reward for dropping out before Super Tuesday to make the way for Biden. Ykno, corruption, which BREAKING: exists outside of transferring money in a briefcase in a back room. Just another L for Americans, but no one can vote for this position anyway.

Anyway, thinking about how hard this would serve for cost consciousness and the environment...

But all he’s really gonna do is probably fix train prices so 🤪

You mean its not Pete who gets the blame for what happened while he was the mayor of south bend? The buck stops somewhere and in mayoral politics it stops with the mayor. He gets credit for the good and the blame for the bad.

Im just pointing out how that statement comes across to me. But by all means, tell us why Pete's mistakes are justified.

I’m not justifying anything. But mistakes are just that, mistakes. And if someone can learn from them and grow then they don’t deserve to be condemned for them.

I believe Pete is that kind of person, maybe you don’t and that is fine. We can agree to disagree and still be a part of a coalition that will bring needed change.

The fact that people here unironically mention communism when talking about Bernie and quote a dictionary definition of an entire ideology as "evidence" is proof enough that they have no fvcking idea about what they're talking about :rip:

Former First Lady of the United States. Now card-carrying member of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
