I'm comparing Gaga to her contemporaries. What promo should Gaga have done? Her coachella set was cancelled, she was unable to film for months, her tour was cancelled, her album was released alongside the murder of George Floyd, and she had other obligations planned in Q4 2020. spector 1,918
it took me a long time, hardened by dissociate episodes with regard to my stanhood, to realize and accept that she is, and has always been, a performer first—not a musician. it's only part of her artistry. taylor, for instance, is clearly a musician first—her artistry is rooted in writing songs and curating soundscapes. neither is better or worse, just different—and, in turn, the spectatorial attitude toward them should also be different. i think what makes this shift in gaga's artistic trajectory extremely hard to accept (or even see!) is that it has, in fact, only started to take place, or morph into tangibility, if you will, recently, with her debut film, asib. she has booked, as of now, two more. if acting proves to be a successful avenue for her, she'll slowly move further away from music. in that case, balancing on the different tangents of her artistry will be an even more delicate task: not only for her own self (of which "lady gaga" is merely a superhero facet, as she now accepted to preserve her sanity/mental health, and as she now articulated/communicated, intending us to accept it—her—too) and her team, but also for her superfans—given that her musical oeuvre ("lady gaga") will be even more spaced out. if she flops as an actor, it is my guess that she'll accept the reduction of her artistic space into music and, as a result, she will either, at last, release genre-bending pieces (pop-inflected metal, rock, etc.) or retire early from heartbreak edit: reading some of the comments, the simpler explanation is the lack of communication on her part. her artistic venues, perhaps, would be appreciated and awaited, irrespective of their nature (music, film, etc.), if she took the time and kept in touch with her fans, and showed actual interest in her current project/vision. stella + elliot = stelliot

So your issue is Gaga not releasing enough remixes? Talk about first world problems. Apparently releasing remixes = caring about your artistic vision now? We could have a Gwen Stefani/Xtina level status right now, but instead Gaga survived and thrived following a tumultuous time in her career. There's not enough appreciation for that. Pennywise 36,079
Lmao for people to support Gaga, she has to actually do something. We're not like Swifties? Yeah, and that's because we don't get any meaningful interactions with Gaga anymore. I'm glad we're not like them, honestly, because Gaga's lack of connection with fans DOES deserve a negative reaction. I also don't think American/UK fans have any right to be all righteous to others, since even in this non-era anything Gaga did was based there and international fans got almost absolutely nothing. I couldn't even get an official physical copy of Chromatica without importing it myself, lmao. And y'all expect me to be happy about this era? I think not Anyways be righteous all you want, you'll never be able to shut people up because that's not how the world works. Maybe someday y'all will learn that. Edit: and no, I don't believe she's an "industry puppet" or anything. I just think she doesn't care about her fans at all anymore, unless she wants to sell something - or the kindness thing, but again that's mostly only for USA anyway. So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

Listen I’m not a fan of Haus Labs, I learned to stay away from those threads and let the fans enjoy Haus Labs. So if a fan wants to do a thread about Gaga’s becoming an industry puppet, maybe stay away from it, cause is obviously causing distress. Not worth it. You know what I mean? It benefits her far more to wait than essentially waste promo spots way too early and have people forget she had done anything at all. This is where she makes most of her money, and if the rumors are true that it wasn’t selling that great to begin with, she’s probably going to be working very hard to make sure it does when the time comes. Very much agree with that. Money (awful word) is made from tours these days, so why would you waste your promo bullets on 2020 when the tour is postponed to 2021 ? That's the first reference I've seen to tickets not selling well, but if that is the case would all ticket sales not have been in covid times so there was never a chance that they would sell well ? I think we could assume that, but I don’t think at that point anyone realized how bad things would get. Companies like Live Nation for instance were hesitant to outright cancel anything thinking it would go back to normal in a matter of weeks. Unfortunately things got much worse thanks to the current administration.
