I’m pretty sure you quoted the wrong person on that. Also I said I’m okay with her not doing anything and just enjoying her life doing other things than promoting. I’m just saying if she wanted to be on every show she would have been. Oh sorry! I’m just speaking generally and used your post as a jumping off point since you mentioned wanting her to be exposed to different audiences, etc. with the material. And yes if she wanted to be on every show she would have been, but as I said it makes more sense to wait it out and do it when it’s actually beneficial for her. Gaga & co. have already done what they set out to do with the album itself: snatch a number one debut and a couple hit singles. If they weren’t happy with any of that they’d be pushing for more, but at the end of the day it all comes down to the tour.

This resulted in a cheap MV that could have been so much better, especially since it was her lead after years of waiting for a full-blown pop album. “Stupid Love” being a mediocre video has nothing to do with the fact it was filmed on an iPhone lmao. codymonster 8,571
I agree, she has been more money/industry driven. However, she definitely isn't a puppet. She's just a business woman that is building her brand and industry. SHE is the business that she is investing in lol. Her priorities have changed, but I don't think it's for others. I think she is just trying to dominate a lot of industries. From the beginning she has wanted to be a legend, and I think she is just working towards that icon/legend status currently by becoming successful/recognized in many different avenues (actress, musician, philanthropist, beauty line, etc.)

The only difference between "Stupid Love" and other videos is they used iPhones to capture it. You blaming an endorsement deal instead of your fave's questionable taste speaks volumes of how you don't actually know what you're talking about. Rahrahbitchson 19,605
OMG let gaga ALONE, let her enjoy her romance with michael, i mean she has swept with all of the pop girls in less than 5 years and continue to have an amazing career that even taylor or adele wishes. None of this girls have made the impact gaga has made. So LET HER ENJOY LIFE. IMAGINE HOW TIRED WE ARE of this threads every single DAY. Quizás bastaba respirar, sólo respirar, muy lento...💙
Bambino 24,266
I get where you're coming from but I wouldn't call her a "puppet." She wants to start a business so she's acting like a business woman. She's a major act in the music business and nobody, including her, can deny that money plays a huge part of everything she does. This whole "music not the bling" thing was an artistic statement which didn't necessarily mean that she'd do things for free, for example. I just don't like how she completely ignores Chromatica. I understand that the make-up line is a product that needs promo, but so is her album. Why is she focusing more on eye shadows rather than her real passion, which is music? You obviously cannot make a grandiose video like ROM on an iPhone. Hence, it is very likely that the iPhone deal restrained her to doing this cheap minimalistic video instead of something bigger, like the video she usually does and the following non-iPhone videos from the same era. People fail to realize there’s a difference between including some ads there and there (which is normal) and putting them in everything you do. It is normal that at the beginning of her career she would do lots of corporate gigs, since she had to secure the bag. But once she blew up, she wasn’t doing them as much. There aren’t many ads in the BTW, ARTPOP or even Joanne vids. Yet, every Chromatica release has been tied with a brand. It’s not the fact that she is trying to make money that bothers us. It becomes a problem when it impacts the quality of her work. For instance, the Apple deal made her film her MV on an IPHONE. This resulted in a cheap MV that could have been so much better, especially since it was her lead after years of waiting for a full-blown pop album. I was very excited for Haus Labs when it was announced, because knowing Gaga, I knew she’d go all the way both in terms of quality and originality. Turns out... the products are getting mixed reviews and the creative direction is a complete failure. There’s nothing innovative about the brand, and it’s literally an Amazon partnership. It’s the definition of an uninspired cash-grab. Enigma had me hyped up so much (my username was Enigma since a year before it was even announced). Even the trailers for it were amazing. And... this is what we got. Sure, it’s not awful by any means... but the costumes were tacky, the visuals in general were lacking, there was nothing fresh about it. It was literally just a greatest hits show for the GP, not for the fans. It is completely normal to notice a tendancy to do things for cash and half-ass them right now. Thankfully, she still does amazing stuff. The ROM and 911 vids were amazing. Chromatica is one of her top albums. The VMA performance was great. Only problem is that we get 1 performance an era VS 5 corporate deals a month. It feels off. Gaga has partnered with Intel, Barney's, H&M, Barnes and Noble, Doritos, Polaroid, Beats by Dre, PlentyofFish, LG, Bud Light, Tudor, Tiffany, and like a dozen other brands. Uh, no, sweetheart. Selena Gomez had the same Shot on iPhone deal and shot a gorgeous video full of color for one of her tracks. It has nothing to do with whatever "limitations" you've made up in your head. They even had CGI effects. There is literally nothing that could have stopped her from making a better video if she wanted just because it was on an iPhone because it's just a camera. It doesn't stop them from doing the same stuff other videos have, which is the entire point of the Shot on iPhone campaign. Let me also add that it's funny you think of "Rain On Me" as this big elaborate thing when all she did was stand in front of a green screen the entire time. Did you think they built that cityscape behind her? I mean, there's not a huge difference between it and this parody... and that should tell you something
Radio Ga Ga 5,671
I didn't read all the replies so idk if anybody touched on this but we might just be seeing the effects that PTSD, a long lasting depression and chronic pain had on her. With people with traumas like that, once they have a taste of peace and happiness (living in her hollywoods mansion doing the minimal and making a bunch of money from business ventures), you can become very complacent and it's hard to go out there to challenge yourself again bc you don't want to go thru all the traumatics things you went thru before. Creating music is very tiring and makes you vulnerable. It seems like she simply does not have the motivation to push herself like that right now. She is probably so broken in her mental health she simply needs to take the time and effort to truly recover from her traumas before she opens herself up again. Darqo 4
She’s held under contracts but she is the most “free” artist out there. Cheek to Cheek happened. Didn’t make much money but solidified her as a “serious” singer when everyone knew her as the ra ra meat girl. Joanne happened. Didn’t make much money but proved to the world that she will do what she wants and not what people are pressurizing her to do. Chromatica is for her fans. Musically each record was collaborated on more than any of her previous albums where it was produced by one person for one song. Haus Labs is for Sarah and her Haus of Gaga friends, she’s making money for them too not just her. Her new book of kindness story is out I just ordered it. Her support during COVID was unheard for from any celebrity. Her message of compassion is still being shouted out everywhere by her it hasn’t changed. Her opinions about the industry are always clear to us she’s never been scared to talk about the fame monsters. She was a touring gypsy most of her career let her rest let her live she’s earned it and out of every celebrity I feels she deserves nothing but the best and all the happiness that her diamond heart can hold and even more Paws Up monsters <

Tell me when any of these has been found in her MVs or performances and impacted the quality? Intel was an actual artistic partnership which is great. The oreos are Chromatica-themed, I'm not mad about them. The Tudor, Tiffany, Valentino... ads give us looks and usually come with her music. Anything related to products has no artistic value and is about money. Think Doritos, Beats, LG, all that. It's not content for the fans that makes money : it's content for the brand that makes money. Which is fine. I'm not trying to demonize her for doing advertising. But her social medias are super dry and looks like a billboard. One of every two posts is about Oreos, Haus Labs (that's easily 50% of what she posts now), the Adobe contest, Valentino... So yes, when she shows more advertising than personality and art, the intuitive reaction is to see a seller, not an artist.
