Loud vocals =/= shouting or screaming

I'm on board here. I love Gaga when she's loud and strong, and I love the rasp. I know she can do the lighter, breathy stuff too, but that style is not for me.

And Enigma, yep, a vocal highlight.

I love her vocal power so much and when she roars and growls during live shows I get goosebumps. And the quiet whisper tones have the same effect. Her vocal flexibility is phenomenal.

I do however feel she sometimes gets a bit emotional, maybe angry or whatever fuels it, and loses some nuance by being a bit too loud and yelling quite a lot. But the only example of this that comes to mind is the Artrave recording in Paris.

According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

I’ve seen this a bit too. Enigma has the best vocals on the album. It’s not like she pulling a Demi screaming every note in some songs (à la Anyone)

For some reason I don't mind Gaga's shouting but when it's someone else like Xtina it just annoys the hell out of me :bear:

I found gaga's vocals on enigma so displeasing but I dont know why. Maybe its that artrave shouty singing style. Yuk

Mise en Scene

The screaming vocals from the Aura demo not being used still haunts me. Also the iconic scream that was on like half the BTW songs.

there’s a proper way to sing loud and gaga does it properly because she’s very well trained. it depends on your placement (singing from diaphragm not throat). i feel like christina aguilera is an example of a singer who actually shouts because her technique isn’t great.

Louds vocals don't always equate shouting but I don't know how much this applies in Demi's case. :poot:

Honestly I think people just like to hate Demi because she does have a very loud voice, even though it's not shouting. Her voice is really really good, and its ashame people can't hear past the loud vocals... I mean, they might be everyones type but that doesn't mean she shouts :poot:
