Shawn doesn't even recognize his own sexual orientation...

Not people actually believing they know Shawn's identity better than himself

the reason why it's an issue to have a full team of cisgender people, specialists or not, is that they do not experience the trans experience. they don't KNOW what dysphoria feels like, they don't experience it, so they don't have the knowledge or first hand experience required to have sufficient empathy with the patients. hence there's worryingly high rates of underdiagnosis and trans suicide.

the issue with cisgender people being the ONLY ones to study and make decisions around transgender healthcare (since transgender people are seldom included at all) is that since it isn't their issue, or something that they have experienced the full brunt of, they cannot give sufficient attention or priority to the issue. it isn't science denial, it's the refusal of the system to include transgender people in trans diagnosis or trans funding that causes issues.

I'm sorry, but this makes no sense. It's just like saying you have to experience a mental condition to be able to treat it. And, once again, as I read on twitter earlier today, some people were claiming that you should identify yourself (or make a self diagnosys) of autism. Do you know how dangerous this is? I'm not saying it's exactly the same situation, of course, but there are people who actually know what they are talking about. It's not like they are being mean just because they don't feel what you feel.

If there's a lack of representation of medical staff regarding the research, analysis and "treatment" (I am not sure if there is even a treatment) by people who actually experience(d) It, then there should be encouragement for these people to take part in this issue.

Thank god in my language, male, female, trans, cat, alligator, whatever, are all "it". I regularly mix up he and she in English even speaking with cis people, it seems so confusing to think of a person as a gender while talking about them at that moment.

Now in my language even the objects have genders, like "refrigerator" has a female gender and "freezer" has a male gender. Só for NB people is really difficult to be accepted by the society cause the idiom as a whole is not neutral.

You're just saying what species they are, which makes no sense and doesn't describe them at all. I ask again, what is a trans person?

Transgender people are people whose gender identity is different from the gender they were thought to be at birth.

A simple way of circumventing this is to accept that people are not objects :poot:

i'm not saying you have to experience it to diagnose or treat it. i'm saying trans people should be included in the medical process and research behind it, which they currently really aren't.

The way people will apologize for misgendering a dog or cat and ask it’s gender but dismiss non-binary humans is like

I'm not comparing them to objects, I'm sorry. I'm just saying that latin languages like spanish, portuguese (my case), french and so on, applies gender to everything, from nouns to adjectives, to adverbs and all. And this make it harder for NB people to be accepted by the general people. There are ways to prevent this like avoid putting adjectives when referring to them, or using neutral adverbs. Some people also suggest to substitute "a" or "o" in the words for "e", even though it's not practical and when doing this you actually ignore the poor and marginalized people that don't have a fair access to education. So as you see, it is something hard to implement in English or german language countries, but it is even harder in latin language countries.

How are you gonna say 'cool, sure' after misgendering them three times in once sentence :green: Can't tell if you're deliberately doing that or not. If it's a deliberate choice, then you're clearly not cool with it.

Oh god, I honestly I didn't mean to do that.  I refer to Sam as they or Sam.  That's a flop on my part, I'm not sure how I even did that.

No, what I mean is that people should separate gendering objects from gendering people, and accept that people have preferences and identities other people should respect.
